    Default Civic 95 engine swap

    Dear members.

So I have a weak stock carby D15 installed in my car, and after the gasket is gone 2nd time, the mechanic has proposed that I change the engine. As for the mechanic, he is considered quite reliable in the market.

Now since the engine needs to be changed, I am thinking to jump to D15b dual vtec. I talked to the mechanic's engine guy in shershah, and he says engine with wiring and ecu for 70k.

Considering your experiences, please guide me if thats a worthy option, and/or give suitable suggestions. Will it increase the resale value of the car, or devalue it? From what I think, the value will be increased of the car, but to those who know the potential of the dual vtec (correct me if im wrong).

The guy also gave below options.

    1. D15b non vtec for 55k
    2. some efi engine (probably d15b non vtec) which will be combined with current carburetor in some way (if I head him correctly). Dont exactly recall the price for this option.

Looking forward for expected assistance. Also let me know if maintenance costs will increase with vtec.

    Regards.

Thanks. Still have to purchase that. Just went to get the engine and now back at office.

I guess will have to take out time to go to plaza.

Where to look for the fuel tank? Plaza or shershah?

What else should I buy? Air filter recommendation? Which oil to use?

I would appreciate if you guys can provide contacts of good electricians, who would be able to come over and do all the electric work. Should be reasonable.

Imran (the engine guy) also gave contact of some electrician Nadeem (north nazimabad), who does good work and charges around Rs. 5,000.
If you want the absolute best. There is a guy nick Named POLO at Hyderi Market. Although he is a bit expensive , but he`ll wire the engine up in a way that it`ll look like it has been wired from factory. Let me know if you his phone number. I know another guy who is at Nipa , his work is Ok`ish as well

Also apologies bro i could not pick up your call. I was in a meeting.

I have`nt read the whole thread ? But what are you doing w.r.t the fuel tank ? Just an FYI , u can use Fuel tank from an EFI cultus just fine. It bolts right on. Though the whole setup would cost you around 10-12k may be. I am using it on my EG as well with no issues !

There is another option which is a bit cheaper, and involves some modification to your original fuel tank.

And how much will Polo charge approx? Do give his contact either here/PM/sms. Also the contact of the other Nipa guy.

    No problem about the meeting

Yes i know about 'installing the fuel pump in the current tank' option, but people do face problems about car stalling.

As for the cultus tank, I will use its fuel pump as well?

Contacts Sent. You will have problems if you just stick the fuel pump into the stock carby tank. You will need to create a sump in the stock tank. Which works but i would`nt do it (the fastest D series in Pakistan 500Whp is running that ) .

As for the EFI cultus tank option, that would work just as any stock EFI tank would i.e without any issue of leaks / stalling etc. And you can use any fuel pump in it , but u`ll have to use the Fuel pump fitting out of the EFI cultus as well ( commonly known as Fuel PUMP ka CHAGGA among mechanics). I remember buying the Tank brand new for 8k and the Fitting part for like 4k i guess, both were new. Been using a Walbro 255 LPH pump for 2 years now , have had zero issues !

I want the low fuel indicator as well. Will the cultus tank cover that?

Please explain this fuel pump fitting (Fuel PUMP ka CHAGGA).

What are total costs involved for cultus tank, fitting, pump, etc? If the costs are high or similar to civic's efi fuel tank, shouldnt i just go for the civic's tank?

So i checked the market nearby, and getting a civic efi fuel pump for 2k. Is that good enough?

Cultus fuel tank is for 4.5k. I don't think it comes with any pump.

What would be the difference in efi tank and non-efi tank?

    Thanks!
EFI tank has a sump in it. Its basically a bowl type thing so the fuel pump is always immersed in petrol. If there is no sump, such as in a non-efi tank, the pump will suck air when the car is going on a turn for example and the petrol is pulled to one side of the tank and the pump gets no fuel to suck. The car will stall. Unlike the EFI system, a carburetor has a bowl built into itself so it doesn't matter if the pump sucks air for a bit, whereas the EFI needs a constant stream of fuel from the tank. Hence the need for a sump in the tank.
But the question is, will it do a burnout?

How much do you expect the cost will be? Its not available nearby so might have to look elsewhere. Also, will it come with the fuel pump and everything.

One thing important to note. I WANT THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR so the sensor is also required. Is that attached with the fuel pump or in the tank?

Last night when i was talking to the parts guy, he suggested that engine bay fuel pump. He said you wont have to change anything in your tank. Just install the fuel pump in the engine way it will do the job. Is he right? What is he talking about?

    Thanks.

Also, I am at work and my presence here is quite important too. So not sure if i will be able to be there at the right time to take pictures.

Low fuel sensor is fitted in the tank and powered up by a jack with fuel pump wiring .... See inside the fuel tank near fuel pump hole , it will be on the upper right side of the tank near the hole....... Sensor seems like a spring type character in civic's efi tank

For an eg tank, is the sensor available?

Another question just popped up in my mind.....What about the fuse box? Will that work fine or change is required?

Congrats dear! Did you get compression test for the engine you bought?

Make sure before the engine is fitted in the car, all cooling galleries are in perfect shape and there is no rust or mineral deposit. Replace all hoses and pipes and get a new radiator and from day 1 use quality coolant.

EDIT: Make sure the fan is auto and thermostat of correct temperature rating is installed.
