    Default Civic 95 engine swap

    Dear members.

So I have a weak stock carby D15 installed in my car, and after the gasket is gone 2nd time, the mechanic has proposed that I change the engine. As for the mechanic, he is considered quite reliable in the market.

Now since the engine needs to be changed, I am thinking to jump to D15b dual vtec. I talked to the mechanic's engine guy in shershah, and he says engine with wiring and ecu for 70k.

Considering your experiences, please guide me if thats a worthy option, and/or give suitable suggestions. Will it increase the resale value of the car, or devalue it? From what I think, the value will be increased of the car, but to those who know the potential of the dual vtec (correct me if im wrong).

The guy also gave below options.

    1. D15b non vtec for 55k
    2. some efi engine (probably d15b non vtec) which will be combined with current carburetor in some way (if I head him correctly). Dont exactly recall the price for this option.

Looking forward for expected assistance. Also let me know if maintenance costs will increase with vtec.

    Regards.

What about the air filter cover guys? Fit hoga na? Air filter box has air intake at the bottom. Is that going to be an issue since it may face blockage as there is no pipe going down to suck air from?

That filter box is off ek civic, in order to fit that u need to cut a hole from behind of right side (driving side) headlamp, and u need a U shape sound box, yes replacement filter is available easily. However i prefer EG oem filter assembly but for that u still need to make that hole. But more loom you will gain. Attaching pictures

ok so is cutting the hole a good idea? I have the option of returning the filter box.

Instead of the filter box, how about I attach an aluminium pipe of lets say 1 or 1/2 foot to the rubber pipe coming out of the intake, and at the other end the cone type filter? Keep in mind i may be running it on cng in future.

Guys im going through forums on the Internet, and i see people facing problems with this dual vtec engine.

They say the engine should have MT intake manifold and IACV.
Vtec will not engage on AT ecu.
    There will be idling problems.

    Am i in trouble?

The wiring guy will do the job probably tomorrow, and he is only going to start the car successfully...nothing else.

Bro intake & IACV are all same only the ECU can go in limp mode but that too has 20% chances.

    No worry on Cng absolutely.

let the wiring guy done his work, dnt under estimate the power of Pakistani electrician well do ask the wiring guy to run a check engine light on your cluster and once done do diagnose it. VTEC will work but make sure about OIL Pressure, OIL Temperature, car should be on optimum temperature. and yes your speedo/odo meter should must be working. only you will get check light on shifting cz of auto ecu. and you will run lil rich mixture.

Dear Rozzzzz, thank you very much for your valuable advice. As you told to run the car on low fuel on turns. I did it but the engine got switched off again and again. It means that alteration did not work. Please suggest and recommend what should i do to get rid of this problem?? may i change the fuel tank??

ok im back guys. The car start and running. But im really unsatisfied with the drive. With a/c, the pick is like its running on cng or something.

2 vacuum hoses coming out of the back of intake manifold are going nowhere, with screws push in at the ends of pipe to block. I assume these will go into that thing for the a/c.

On a/c, the idle rpm sometimes goes below 500 rpm, and while driving when brakes are applied, the car is stalling due to this low rpm. No issue when running with a/c switched off.

Furthermore, there are 5-6 sockets that are just lying around and not plugged into anything.

    Any input will be appreciated.
