If Auto, make sure that all gears are engaging. If there is no problem with shifting there could be a problem with your car's Torque Convertor.
If the car is Manual then there is only one possibilty and i.e that is clutch and pressure plates are gone.
5K rpm at 120km/hr is too much. They should be around 3K for this model's Manual car.
RPM issue doesn't have to do anything with plugs and tyres.

Manuals are supposed to be at 3300rpm for 120kmph.

yes. I have recently changed my clutch plates as the previous ones gave up and I came across this thread so wanted to test. My car also gives weird noises but once it is warm, everything is cool.

Is it the ' hissing' type of sound that seems to be coming from near the gear box?

No, I don't think so. However I did try the other thing today going from center point towards barkat market from the kalma uder pass. At 120km on 5th gear, my RPMs were between 3.6-3.8 (there are 4 lines i guess between 3K and 4K RPM reading so it was more towards the 3rd line).

Take a look at your Honda car owners manual if you have one. Rpm reading at different speeds for different engines in your variant are given.
You are being too curious about it. My car is a Honda civic 2006 exi no gas pure phat Petrol . Stays at exactly 3600 Rpm at 120 kmph. Factory settings.

Thats strange cuz even Cultus stays at 3500rpm at 120, my Baleno 1.3 stays on 3250 at same speed. My friend has Auto(Pros) Vti Oriel, it is at 3000rpm final gear ratio on 120...

It's not a mystery, it's the size of the gear and the gear ratios that decide your revolution per minute. It is not necessary that a car with big engines would only have to run at 3500 rpm at 120kph and a Mehran wouldn't. If you want to go deep into it, start with studying transmission systems, torque converters and gear ratios. It wholely depends on the design.

There was a bill put up to be passed In US senet when they decided to ground cars more than 5.0 L. But people started arguing that with big engines on highways their rpms stay low and hence they burn less fuel and reach their destination in time but with the smaller engines the rpms would stay high and more fuel would be burnt. And the bill failed by this argument.
