Default Honda Civic PK-6 VTI (2000 model) broken wire in engine

So I just noticed that a wire as shown in the picture is cut.

I gave the car to a mechanic to get the belts changed and I think he broke the wire.

The part where it is broken is not shown, because it was too dark there. Only where it is coming from is shown. It is circled in red.

Now I want to know what this wire is for and how important is it to get it fixed.

can you give a more close up of the pic?

Is the wire completely detached or is it just the insulation?

I have posted the picture of the socket (where it is coming/going from). It is cut in the center somewhere(aik jaga say taar tooti hui hai). From where it is cut is not shown in the picture. So I just want to know what this wire is for. It's not a single wire, it's maybe 4 or 5 and the socket I have captured in the picture. Right next to it is a another bigger cable bundle with insulation. This is below the intake manifold or what ever it's called (the steel thing after the throttle body). A D16 expert should know precisely what this cable is for.
