    Default Lambada controller in Hash4u's civic

    This sunday we had a technical weekend once again
    Kkoool visited me to get some venturis for his cars. I also got CNG cyliders of my spectra drained and cleaned. In the afternoon i received a call from Hash4u asking if Al Mubarik International is open on sundays or not. I told him that we are at Al Mubarik right now so he should come ASAP.

    We (me and Kkoool) had a nice chat with opwner of Al Mubarik Mr. Mubashar who seems to be very expereinced guy in CNG. He was the first one to introduce this 4th generation continuous feedback CNG regulation setup (commonly known as Lambada controller) and it shows in the time it takes them for installation. They did it in 2 hours in my spectra and in Hasim's case, it was even less than that, and a job well done indeed.

    Here are some pics

    @Hash

    Yes i do happen to install it in the engine bay near the battery at a relativey cooler place. I do have a plan to shift it to the inside under the dash board same way as Emulator and Advancers are installed.

    @Spectra: How much did it cost total for the installation? Has it been trouble free ever since and hows the power/responsiveness and most importantly, you getting better mileage?

    @Yoboy
    Cost is 15K
    Performance and responsiveness is way better now. Hash4u can tell better about consumption.

    i think it makes a considerable amount of diffence specially in automatic cars. cause at many times before lambda, i felt the car was in the wrong gear. now the car is smooth, gear change is smooth and correct. RPM remains low due to correct shifting...

    Tempting! I thinking of getting it installed today or tommorow. Finally got the problem sorted out in my Automatic Corolla after all. Not sure if it was the cng kit or not, but I took the car to Toyota Islamabad in Aabpara to flush the Automatic transmission fluid, guess your supposed to do that every 40,000 km and god knows I never done it before, neither the previous owner and it has 200,000 km on it now. Turns out they had to use a ton of fluid to flush it and suck it out w/the machine before it came out clean!! Was completely black (now its red) colored fluid. Now it shifts much more smoothly and works fine on cng but am getting around 80-100 km with the ac on per fill so hoping lambda will make a difference.

    These are not 30 sizers rather these are regular 50 size cylinders. Twp or three small cylinders option is available but its a costly option and not many people opt for that.

    @spectra says that he has his emulator/advancer in the dashboard and plans to shift the lambda there as well !

    did i understand that correctly... cause my emulator/advancer is right behind my right front headlight ! i need to cover it with a plastic bag when i get the car serviced ! it would be great if i had those gadgets inside the car rather that under the bonnet ! will the al mubarak guy do this for me ?

    secondly, any advice while getting the car serviced... besides covering it with plastic

    last time i covered the advancer/emulator in plastic and had problem starting it on CNG so i had to switch to petrol !

    i think next time i will just keep it on petrol while taking it for service...

    also someone adviced me never to get diesel in the engine bay or the underside when they service the car... he said just shampoo the engine bay with water and "soda" on the underside... he told me the diesel had tendancy to get into components and damage them (e.g. bushes next to the tires tended to be damaged)

    @fouadcc
    Most factory fitted CNG comes w/the stuff in the engine bay. When I get my car serviced I take a plastic bag around the advancer/emulator then take a cable tie to make it sealed properly, and then switch to petrol drive to the station, drive back, then switch back to cng and make sure to remove the bags cuz I think if you leave them on its possible they will not be able to cool down as properly.

    I guess with lambda thats just one extra thing to worry about, but putting that stuff inside under your dashboard sounds like a great idea!

    its recommended to keep them indash but not necessary. secondly these components are waterproof.
    well i use diesel for service. no harm from it so far. few service stations use, used oil. avoid that...

    Suzuki guys dont install Advancers and emulators under the dash board rather these are hanged somewhere in the engine bay.

    In spectra, Dewan has installed thenm under the dashboard alongside main ECU of the car because this is what is recommended by manufacturers of CNG equipment as well.
    Al mubarak wont waste time in such petty task, they will try fitting awhole new kit in some car during those 3 hours

    I will do it myself as a DIY.

    Installing these compnents in dash board have benefits like longer life, lesser risk of watewr of temperature damage etc.

    @spectra: 'zukis have them under dash in alto/cultus whereas baleno got adv/emulators inside bay.

    btw, good to know that u took my word regarding placement of lam cont, though my experience is these components are water resistant, not sure about their water proofing prop. all we need to do is, take out the connector and blow a "phoo" and reconnect it back.
