Default Bought civic 2005. Need advice

    Hi Guys
I have bought this 96k driven Civic 2005 VTi Pros.

The car is stable to drive yet has RPM droppage issues in idle for which i am sending it for a Check up Tomorrow.

Can you guys tell me what other specific lookouts and focus points are there in this specific model? Or what to do first when getting a used car

Pics attached (myself saying MashaAllah if someone else doesnt :-) )

congrats on your purchase. first of all take the overall inspection of the car, any check lights, any gadget malfunctioning, get all the necessary fluids change if you don't know the previous history of the car, while buying any used car you must ask the previous owner about the things needed to replace.

Though three problems left which need help:

    1. There is a whining noise from enginebay when i turn steering. What is this and how to fix? I think its the pump or smthng

    2. Thermostat valve has been bypassed and fan has been made direct. It starts up with ignition

the grip.of sensor has been cut n thrown away else i wudve reconnected it . Is there any place i get the grip from.in Khi

    3. Turning radius is not equal. Right side has a sharper turning than left. So left sided u-turns are a pain! I have to reverse.
What could this be caused by

Theres PSF leaking from the pipe/pump onto the alternator. Can this be related to the powersteering whining sound somehow?

    1. Whining sound is a bad power steering pump. Make sure fluid level is at mark and tighten the clamps or replace the pipe to stop leak.

    2. The last time i heard this being done, the car overheated. Fix both fan and get tstat with coolant.

    3. This model has a factory defect. Steering has to be kept turned a little to left side to go straight which affects turning radius. Get alignment done anyway.

Get power steering pump replaced along with genuie honda PSF if u want that sound to vanish.

When i bought my car fan was also direct. Later i got it automatic. There was coolent in reservoir nd it hadnt dropped a bit in a year ALHAMDULILLAH

The turning radius thing u mentioned is not so noticable. Live with it :p u ill have to make bit effort to keep the car straight, even after allignment

There isn't any factory defect. Otherwise it would be there when it rolled out of the factory.

My slight steering pull to the left was rectified.
The person is mentioning the turning radius issue. It could be due to shifted tie rod adjustment or wide tires touching the wheel well or something hindering the hub rotation like a broken sway bar link. An expert alignment guy may judge the problems.

Regarding power steering pump, replace it or can be rebuild if you can find a good mechanic and proper seals for replacement. I did mine myself and its running fine. Use only Honda power steering fluid.

And please correct your cooling system as per factory spec.

Yes i am talking about turning radius which i think could be a badly balanced tire rod (im no expert just guessing)

As for the power steering i would love to know any DIY that can be done to resolve this.... P.S is the pump changing a hassle job or is it a fairly simple one?

For the cooling system, the grip for the thermostat switch has been cut and removed ..the wires are hanging there peeled and joint together.
i will have to buy a grip setup here. Any idea where i can get one?

Pump changing is not that tough. The fluid change is. Specially bleeding out the air.

The fluid dropping over alternator is gonna lead you to source another in near future.

First ensure the functioning of the auto switch. The connector may be sourced from any used wiring with any efi electrician.

It's ok friend. Many has to believe the mechanics and hearsay.

There is a very slight pull as a factory setting but it's such low that your car will start to change a lane after about a km if you leave the steering alone.

I have a similar model. I am currently using tap water in radiator. Should I use coolant? If so, which and what should be the mixture? Some people say old cars should not have coolant in it.

Secondly, what engine oil should I use for my car? It's VTI oriel prosmetic, 2004, 127,000 Kms driven.

Dont ever use tap water never never ever use tap water always use coolant.

If car is with u since bery long then use oem recomended 5w30 grade oil from a reputable brand. Being on the safe side M using zic 10w40 bcz i bought the car a year ago and was un aware of its history.

But but but i would like to add one thing here. That if your radiator is already on tap water with mild rust then DO NOT switch to coolant unless ure prepped to go for another radiator and engine lines flushing job
