    Default Buying a civic,need help

Hi guys its my first thread here I am looking to buy a civic 1998-2000 and have some as questions listed below( don't hate me because some questions maybe pretty dumb as i am kinda noobie in such things):
1- will be going for engine swap which one to choose, one of my cousion suggested d15 and b16 but you guys tell me what's best?
2-I do not want to go for power only so need a engine that I can also use on regular basis(not too heavy on fuel, runs on normal fuel petrol and e.t.c)!
3-any other helpful tips for build(its my first car btw).
4-Any other good modding suggestions(interior and exterior both)!
5-Also let me know that should I go for civic model above than 2000 to 04! Or 2000 is better?( I do personally like 2000s chasis)
I know it's sounding really dumb but what can I do its my first car and I don't know ****!

Bro B16 has very good performance compared to d15 , also depends on on the gear box, exhaust system,, etc etc, but stock b16 is better but when comes to fuel efficiency D15 is way better and is comparatively not that bad just do some stage 1 or may be stage 2 mods u will be very happy with it , And u should probably go for 2000 u will be happy with it , and since these engines are very popular getting its parts wont be an issue make sure to ask for its complete wiring before going for the engine. One more thing , if u have a sweet spot for turbo charged performance then go for b16 , trust me u will be more than happy if some day u decide to upgrade to a turbo charged engine and u have a sweet B16 already up and running .. BOL !!

Hmm, I need a car for daily running about 25 kms so fuel won't be an issue on b16,right?
Someone also told me about b16b which is better but I have heard its swap is hard, is it true?
Please explain " complete wiring before going for engine"!
A good workshop for body and interior modification?

Which city are u from ?
and yes b16b is an economical version, and there are also other editions as well , google them u will be happy with it , And if consumption is not a problem then my suggestion is that go for b16 , but it is a very powerfull engine very good gas response and good torque at low rpms , Install it only if u r like speed enthusiast . And about the wiring just ask the person from whom u r buying about the complete setup he will brief u well , go for a good gear box as well , add a bigger head and also a good sports fuel pump some racing injectors and a big cold air intake system not to forget a wide exhaust system .. Beleive me just these are enough to give u a horse power u wont be able to figure out what t do with as u r new to these stuff..

So are you looking to buy a civic with finished engine so that you can swap your own? What if you find one that doesnt need a swap?

I am sure there are many 1999/2000 civic around with still good running condition engines that will give good performance. Why not just buy that and drive? I am asking because you are concerned with fuel economy as well. If you are looking for power only, then a good b16/b18 swap would do, but when you want a daily drive car, I will suggest you look for a civic in good condition. Will save you time and money.

Other than that, you can go for civic already swapped (if you really dont want the car to have its original engine), and of course have it checked with your mechanic before purchase. For example, there is one being sold with d15b swap, which will certainly give decent fuel economy (depends on its condition of course, which you can confirm with seller).

Just searched out the link for you: https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/car...d15b-dual-vtec

Similar to above, I am sure you will find others as well which are properly swapped and wont give you problems due to bad/incomplete swaps.

Every other civic is either engine swapped or needs a swap. So u ill find one very easily.

If decent performance with decent evonomy is ur priority then Consider d17a too. Not sure if its bolt on swap on ek chasis or not!

Well in that case just go for d15 and no need for modifications . Use a 2 " diamter header and use a cold air intake sytem with a braod pipe to the suction pipe of the engine and a free flow intake to that pipe .. thats gonna be enough... if there are any other problem then let me know...

Look i will put it very simple for u ,

Take you mechanic with u when buying the engine . He will be very useful , bcz u know that they know these stuff , he might open one or two as well and that will be very good cuz u cant judge from the outside whats inside, get its complete wiring and stuff and other prerequisites like the radiator alternator evaporator mesh for the ac etc etc..

Secondly forget about explaining stage 2 to your mechanic, just make a header for the engines exhaust manifold on order by someone u know to use a good material and a full exhaust system, keeping the down piping 2" (The material and thickness Depends on ur budget and 2" is very famous for b16 and D15 For free flow and very good efficiency and almost in all engines but these two have been experimrented by lots of people . ) . Also get a broad cold air intake system , so that u can have clean and cold air at high amounts when required . And if u r planning on installing CNG then forget about the intake system , but there are other systems that u can do for cng and lets not get into that for now .

And the rest is upto ur mechanics experience how he goes with the system .. BOL !!

One thing i forgot forgot about the fuel avg. is no matter which engine u have from 660cc euro 2 to 2500 and 3500 2JZ , the avg totally depends on u . Even a 2015 cultus 1000CC euro 2 can have an averge of 7-8 may be even 3-4 KM/Litre .. SO as long as u dont mess with the gas paddle u wont have any average issues but if u do ur engine needs some serious tuning ....

Its very good price go for it if the engine is in good condition... and yes takes almost a week in setting up the complete set up.. i live in peshawar. There are very good 2000 civic but havent seen any b16 in it . But if u r looking for stock and then swapping the engine u should take a look for 2000 here if u cant find a good one in karachi
