    Default Civic 1997 Engine issues

Hi Civic Guru's i need to discuss some issues about my car its a 97 civic EXI Automatic
First of all the issues start coming after i checked my car with no engine oil that was because of the leakage of oil from different areas, i replaced the timing seals and the tappet cover's jain the issue remained as i saw oil drops coming again and again then i replaced my car's oil chamber jain and water body got leaked so i got it replaced too, now the car started heating up and the water in radiator becoming low every time i drive it for 20km's i noticed the car's water pipe to throttle body was leak and blocked i also got it replaced the heating process didnt stopped plus it started giving tiny bubbles in radiator i got the radiator washed and serviced twice but the issue is same and the bubbles in radiator gradually became bigger :/ now the engine also started burning engine oil as there is no leakage but the oil level is becoming low, plus i cant drive it for too long as the temp guage goes up after some 20 km's and i have to pour water into it lets say a half glass the mechanic and radiator guy says the gasket is blown and oil level low is coz its burning please suggest me what to do now as mechanic says to change the engine assembly i am thinking of only getting the gasket replaced.
    Please help me out.

I am thinking of just replacing the gasket for now and keep topping up the engine oil when ever it gets low other then that overhauling of the engine is a good idea? as my mechanic says thats not a good idea? plus can you please tell me any other newer engine which can be swapped without any alteration and will be on bolt on bolt fitting? with the same old transmission?

repairs/rebuilds dont last in these older Honda's
I think you have a fair idea by now dont you
    replace assembly.its not that expensive

on one hand u dont want to spend 25k for assembly swap and on the other asking for engine upgrade ?

you can change it to d15b vtec but then all wiring ecu will have to be changed
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

Since you're heating it so frequently, it would be a miracle if the head/block are not badly warped. You must know you can never install a HG properly until you have a smooth head/block surface.

To fix, you will need to shave lots from both sides which will disturb the timing belt since the total height of engine will reduce and so on.

Its just so much better to replace the engine or the car.

overheating previously was not an issue it all started after the water body got leaked and i changed it, i have no idea of previous as i bought a couple of years ago and the owner said that only engine work was done once gasket, rings piston the car has clocked 270k+ on odometer.

okay bro thanks for the suggestion, thats the only option i think i am left with, but i have a question just a general one that my car is heating up and each time i have to pour water in the radiator my question is where the water is going away? i cant see any leakage nor i can see any oil\water mixup, the mechanic says the water is burning inside but i dont think so the water can burn inside somewhere i mean it should go into the engine but its not.

Sometimes water finds its way into the cylinder and burns.... Sometimes when you overheat, the water is pushed out of the reservoir.

Oil & Water paste is classic symptom but hardly the ONLY symptom. I have seen water coming out from the spark plug holes while the oil looked clean.

Sometimes gases exhaust gasses find their way into the cooling system. They also push the water out and create air locks.

If you think your HG isnt fried. You're wrong.
As many times as you have overheated, it would be a miracle if your head/block are not warped. Its the classic Honda aluminum head cast iron block thermal expansion issue. Hondas or any new cars should never ever ever be overheated.

okay this is clear to me now, thanks a lot for the reply appreciate it
Now i need suggestions for the engine change please, engine assembly will be fine just? and how i am going to find out a perfect engine with low mileage i mean the lowest i would take i don't think so i am going to get a engine with less then 100k clocked for this 97 model? or is there any other newer model engine which can be a bolt on bolt fitting on this model? and if there are any estimates that would be great, please suggest, Thanks

    Solution
now i know engine is not in a good condition instead its weak but now the heat-up issue is resolved where as the engine burning up oil is still there i had to pour a one liter oil after 1800 KM's of oil change, but i can go on for few months and till then i can collect some handsome amount for a complete engine assembly change.
well here are some engine rates and some suggestions from the mechanic
first suggestion is the same old one to change the engine assembly with the same engine (that would be cheaper of course) = 25k
second suggestion is i can get an engine of VTI oriel prosmatec 04-05 complete engine without transmission and mechanic says it will work with the same old transmission. it is going to cost me 40k
third is same but the engine would be of 04-05 EXI prosmatec and that would be cheaper from VTI oriel's engine

now i need suggestions please which engine i should go for, what i was thinking was that engine of VTI oriel prosmatec is going to work okay with this old transmission? as prosmatec transmission is different from this old auto transmission plus do i need to change the wiring? or ECU or any other alteration needed any where?
