    Default Engine check light problem

    hello every one.
i have a 2001 civic vti. few days back its engine check light came on. from the manual it read that it can be because of engine's emmision control system problem.
can some one plz tell me what specifically this is, or what this is called in the mechanics language.

i showed this to one mechanic and he said that the oil pump is not working properly. he repaired it but after a few days check light again came on.

temperature guage also has been showing varied behaviour almost from the time engine check light came on and the rpm of a car at rest when engine is on, also shows elevated level.

so these 3 problems started at the same time and i really have no idea whether they are inter related or not, and what should i do. senior members plz guide me.
    Regards

You (and we) need to know which error code is stored in ECU to diagnose the problem. Have your car scanned with scan tool to get the error code(s). I assume you dont know how to get the ECU to display codes on the cluster by yourself.
