    Default Honda Civic 2006 not selling??

    I was at a Honda dealership in Lahore and was curious about how sales were going for the new Civic.

    With some hesitation, I was told that the sales are very slow. The advice was to stay away from the new generation Civic, atleast till Atlas figured out the electrical problems current owners are experiencing.

    Any truth to this statement??

    Initially I seldom saw the new Civic on the roads, but that trend's changing and for the better! Electrical problems may be a abating factor in sales, but the main factor is the price. I'd rather go for an Altis or an imported Accord(2003) rather than invest 15 Lakhs in a locally assembled car!

    There is a production fault with the VTI oriel so currently only the I-vtec is on offer. Most people in PK are waiting for the VTI-oriel so that's why you are not seeing many on the roads.

    My car financing agent told me that the booking/sale of the new civic has been extremely dissapointing. there has been a jump of almost rs3.5 lacks when only considering the base model (the former EXI and new VTI only). He told me that honda is expected to cut around 1 or 1.5 lacks by the next year...I hope what he said is true......oh well..wishful thinking

    Well being a proud owner of VTI Oriel I can not really back what i've been reading all over Pak wheels these days. I have been driving the car for last one month approx and mashAllah haven't felt anything worng (of course praying to God nothing turns up in furture as well). i've already posted comments on another thread that i got my Oriel after this rumor had spread. And if there was some problem why they would clear out my car from the factory. IN my opinion reasons for sale of this car being slow is that it costs heck of a money and mind set of a normal consumer is still stuck with the old price tag (naturally). I does cost money but if you still gonna pay the same after a year or so why not now when its still hot from oven.

    As far as its price coming down is concerned, i hope it doesn't, as i've already paid for it ---- Oooops .

    Lastly, as far as going for Altis is concerned. Its still the same old shape of 2002 (five years man!!!) plus cabbies, police, my own company and lots of others have dozens and dozens of them. Would you consider paying 1.3 mil for somthing like that? Well Accord CL-7 and CL-9 are good options but this trickle down to buck in your pocket. If you can afford expensive parts and much lower resale then go ahead and buy it. It still is awesome!

    p.s. Please don't take me wrong as i still think Civic 2006 is a litlle over priced.

    Appologies to Corolla owners But it has already had its days.

    Civic has got a well sporty look, which attracted me much. Build quality is much better than any other locally assembled car.

    Altis=XLI , same shape, which I don't like. its a way old shape.
    Last night I had a short race with Altis. We stood side by side on signal and on green signal zooom, left him behind on 1st gear. Aerodynamics of new civic suppored the speed much.

    I don't think its an expensive car, reason ? BMW 7 series is of 80 lakh appx, but people buy it ? You agree that it worth it. And so does civic.

    Stat bat, considering the city example you just mentioned, the stuff that they have taken off is worth no more than 5K or something if installed seperately. Its all a marketing gimmick. They just need to show they removed some stuff so that the people who bought the UG version dont beat the crap out of them...lol...any ways, what they'll do in the civic is that they'll take off ABS/Immobilizer, and i guess price will be reduced by atleast 1 lack....lol

    dnt u think if abs are taken out then its sales goin to be further down bcoz a car with 12 lakhs price shud hav abs atleast

    i really dnt think they shud remove any thing except change in engine frm 1.8 to 1.6

    so do u all think its price going to be reduced as we really really dnt see much of this car on roads like we were expecting

    @vicky786:

    Please quit dreaming about the 1.6L version. That is never going to happen anymore.

    Reason: Honda worldwide does NOT make anything other than a 1.8L and 2.0L engine for the new Civic (Actually the US hybrid one is 1.3L).

    The older shape Civic was offered, worldwide, in engines ranging from 1.4-1.7. So Pakistan got 1.5 and 1.6 engines. They could, if they wanted to, bring the 1.7L engine offered in the US model to Pakistan. Back then, if Honda Atlas wanted to offer the Civic in a 500 hp V8 engine, they could not do so simply because Honda did not manufactur a V8 engine for the Civic---as simple as that!

    If Honda does not make a 1.6 engine for the Civic, Pakistanis can't bring it here. Unless they are willing to do their own engineering and somehow figure out a way to fit the City engine in the Civic.

    BTW, if you can visit all Honda sites worldwide and show me ANY country where a 1.6 version is offered, then there will, at least, be some hopes of an EXi in Pakistan.

    I have seen only a few Civics in Karachi. I don't know if its a supply issue or that people are not buying it.

    Frankly speaking the new Civic does not look like a 15 lak car. For 15 lak I am sure one can buy a bigger and better car. How about Toyota Premio?

    Another issue I have is the tail lights. The same model has better looking back lights in America.

    Its possible that Honda may come out with a cheaper EXi with 1600 cc engine or something. Who knows.

    Here is the American version of Civic.

    @aww

    i consider ur argument

    "Toyota with cabbies, police, office people "

    as the most unrealistic coz the BMW and the
    audi,z(and many other) are vastly used as a cab and are very popular with EU police . they are also owned by the status co and elite masses... so it doesnt really means that a car used as a cab cant be used or kept,,,,,or owned by same people.

    plz plz plz dont attach this executive symbol or class with the new civic... i beleive it is the most awkward looking piece of shiny junk that costs a huge 15 lac.

    secondally people buy Hondaz only coz of immediate delivery and lease options. if lease wasnt here i bet u wont see a single Honda on road.

    CL7 and CL9 are fabolous though and i love em....and they can be called classy.
    increasing the price doesnt make a car stand out in its class as happened with the new civic

    You think its expensive? go find another car that's cheaper. You don't like the shape ? , then don't look at it.

    You hate it ? then don't discuss it. leave it and go find imported used crap.

    Its a trend in pakistan to like the things tagged, Made in bla bla.

    @AkbarGr8:

    i agree with you on this. I thought that it was cheap to reduce price as well as take off rear seat belts, storage boxes, bonnet padding and more.

    Regarding price reduction, lets see what happens. I am seeing more and more new civics in KHI these days. Lets see if they really reduce price in an year or so.

    I don't think there will be a price change. City is selling like hot cakes here in lahore. You see city everywhere. Those who like Honda brand and can't afford Civic buy City instead. They lowered their City price to increase its market.
