Default Honda Civic 2005 EXI Prosmatic Automatic Transmission

My Honda Civic 2005 1.7L gives knocking sound and has become hard footed. Some one guide me what to do? Shifting of gear is also becoming hard as it has automatic transmission. Mechanic told me to change the patrol pump , i am using Patrol from TOTAL PUMP , while earlier i was using BYCO. Nothing much changed after that as well.

Plugs, filters, these are the basics. Check your fuel filter, if shifting is an issue, then there can be two things, gearbox, or the electronic signals coming to it

This could very well be a malfunctioning MAF sensor or an o2 sensor

For starters, run a scanner on it, if it's a sensor, the fuel mixture readings would be rich.
Rev it in N, and rev it P. See if there are any hesitations. If so, then the gearbox is fine, if there aren't any hesitation, then the gearbox is the cause. This can the base to begin with

If its knocking, change the plugs to higher heat range and use a better quality fuel.. may be blend 50% octane and see if it helps...

which engine oil you are using ? pour oil which is recommended for your car's engine.
thick oils also causes low pick and knocking

Plugs have heat ranges you can tell by looking at the model number for eg: NGK Plugs model number Izfr6k11s <- 6 is the heat range.
A plug with a heat range of 5 would be a hotter plug.. 7 would be colder. In reference to my previous post, you may be able to reduce or eliminate knocking by using the correct heat range for the engine. I suggest you try heart range 6 (NGK) if you're using 5. A lot of mechanics just install whatever fits. Since yours is already an imported motor, you should def use correct heat range with correct fuel mix.
If you already have HR 6 plugs installed, try HR 7. The knocking should most def go away but you're plugs might require frequent cleaning for carbon deposits.

The cheap copper ones cost about 7000 bucks/set. Its a cheap fix before you get into throwing in more critical parts such as fuel pump.
