    i hope they do
    previuosly used deisel engines were from isuzu
    the one in old civic 1.7D had abt 160lb-ft at 1800rpm

    the new 2.2D in 2006 civic has 250lbf-t of torque at 2000
    that is gonna embariss 2.ods 2C

    from net
    Predictably, the star of the range is the 2.2-litre diesel. Here is an engine that develops nearly twice the torque at half the revs (251lb ft at 2,000rpm) of its equally powerful 140bhp 1.8-litre petrol sibling. So performance is flexible, relaxed and gratifyingly punchy in that crucial 2,000-4,000rpm rev range. It's also a refined cruising engine, much more so than its petrol sibling.

    Aoa.

    If this news is true than its really good. Thats because as oil prices are soaring and cng engine kee wat laga deyta hey, so diesel is the best option right now, though expensive when compared to cng. The car will be expensive as most of the deisel cars are.

    @redbull
    sir compare the 2.2 CTDI by honda with the 2.0 d4d and 2.2 d4d 180 D-CAT of toyota......

    HONDA i-CDTi 2.2-litre diesel 138~140bhp and 339Nm of torque @t 2,000rpm.

    TOYOTA D-4D 2.2 litre diesel 136bhp and 310Nm of torque @ 2,000rpm.
    TOYOTA D-4D 180 D-CAT 2.2 litre diesel 178~180bhp and 400Nm of torque @ 2,000rpm.
    its all about power to weight ratio...

    i'm not a big fan of Toyota but when it comes to the world of Diesel Engines, no one can beat Toyota's technology..even the european car manufacturers.

    @Nak
    The best diesel engine makers are PSA the Peugoet group and in Japan it is Isuzu. Toyota is a bit down the line.
