Default Project Reborn 8th Gen Civic 2007

*Final results, few before & after starting from Post#315 onwards, cost edits at bottom of this very post#1*

Dear All, I had been looking for a good trouble free car for home use. As always, prices are insane around. Have sold & bought many Reborns. When selling, you don't get a good offer & when buying, you can't find a good car in reasonable price. Repainted cars are also overpriced.

I'd rather get a scratched faded car which hasn't been earlier repainted instead of buying an already repainted/touched car & God knows what underneath that make up to save money properly if I have to be budget conscious. If you should then save properly & if not then spend without thinking.

My mind frame was to save money as this will be a run around car for school & market duties.

I got my hands on a 2007 Oriel Prosmatec with originally 120000 on the clock (as maintainence book is there) almost in original paint with 2 rear pieces sprayed. Interior looks new, apart from detailing required & drive is exactly what a well maintained Reborn should be, a real charm. Everything in perfect working form, from lights to ac to driving experience.

THE CATCH IS: some paint is faded, scratches/raggar somewhere. In a nutshell it's almost original but dull in looks. I fell for it as price i managed to bargain was unbelievable even by standards of an accidented repaired car

Will take delivery & immediately give it for bake painting. It's kind of a project car in terms of restoring the looks back to charming.

Yeah true as far as pictures are concerned, but I shall post them and add it to my rides on PW when I get my hands on my DSLR which is in another city at the moment.

Other than that, I understand that I will have to sell the car keeping the market in view, having said that, usually a lot of people don't actually take care of cars like we do, I guess. I for one did not wait for anything majorly wrong to happen to the car (like my friends ) before it went to Honda South (KHI) but always changed parts of the car as soon as I found something was slightly out e.g. slight bumps felt in shocks, Honda said no need to change them, they will work for a time, I said no, just get it over with. So things like that. Therefore slightly jacking the price for the car, I guess should be ok for people who want to get their hands on a car which is old but nevertheless reliable and mechanically sound. They will check the car and I am sure they can't find a single mechanical fault in it coz it's always been the way it was e.g. no mods, no CNG ever, no spacers, nothing changed from the default things apart from the tyres which I just had to get my hands on the 205/65R15 to nullify the issue of the car hitting every speed breaker with more than 2 people in the car.

On the other note, no I haven't hit balochistan with this as yet. Apparently I wouldn't want to either because for that I'll need to be 100% sure as the roads are very nice (Coastal Highway and all) but there aren't many fuel stations, workshops, cities on the way so I can't risk that with a car which is touching the 10 year old mark. Even with a brand new car which hasn't done 5000Km as yet, I wouldn't risk it on that road, probably because I've had a bad experience with my brand new 2016 civic (9th Gen) which just shut down on the main road while it was driving and refused to come back on and had to be towed to Honda (odo was about 300km). 4 times the battery was changed before they actually checked the car itself to see what in the world is going on.

Yeah sure I shall update here that I've added it into my rides as this is a thing which the other guy has made and I don't want to spam it with my car's snaps

Thank you for your kind words. My family kept getting sick of me when the 8th gen was missing from the house every second month before almost all parts were changed. Now MashAllah hasn't created a single issue since 6 months. Just getting myself some Continental ContiComfort Contact 5 205/65R15 Tyres tomorrow morning as I thought my Dunlop 302's were fine but they aren't. Just today I had 17 punctures fixed in all 4 tyres today so I ain't hitting the Islamabad to Khi highway in those, no sir !

As for the 9th Gen, its a piece of Junk, I hate the car. Doesn't drive like a honda, doesn't have the road grip of a Honda, just doesn't feel like a honda. I like the navi they have and all but that's about it. They should have made a better car than the 8th Gen for sure but they just didn't. Got it coz we needed another car and Honda Atlas is taking their sweet time in getting the 10th Gen released. I just cannot go for a corolla (no offence to anyone please), everyone has their own preferences in cars and I just don't like it when you come from driving Hondas for decades.

Because the look it was in due to scratches and fading was a disgrace to this Gem. A Gem deserves to look like a Gem.

Yes don't worry, it's packed from the inside and will be removed in paint booth. Needs to stay on currently for surface perfection around.

The windscreen is a perfect replica first copy. It's not an original. With fitting 10,000 from Montgomery Road. 2nd, 3rd or poor copies without stamp and green tint were also available.

Non genuine bumpers have following few problems despite about half the price, a) fitting issues, b) a slight bump and they crack wide open, c) it's stupid to waste the paint expense on something disposable.
With original ones, minor bumps and hits don't do much visual damage and usually the bumper stays in place.
So either get a disposable one and keep getting it every now and then or get an original one which will last 3-4 years in same circumstances.

Couldn't agree more. I hate when bumpers pluck out from the ends and this happens after broken spacers etc and no matter what you do they don't fit after that.
