Default Project Reborn 8th Gen Civic 2007

*Final results, few before & after starting from Post#315 onwards, cost edits at bottom of this very post#1*

Dear All, I had been looking for a good trouble free car for home use. As always, prices are insane around. Have sold & bought many Reborns. When selling, you don't get a good offer & when buying, you can't find a good car in reasonable price. Repainted cars are also overpriced.

I'd rather get a scratched faded car which hasn't been earlier repainted instead of buying an already repainted/touched car & God knows what underneath that make up to save money properly if I have to be budget conscious. If you should then save properly & if not then spend without thinking.

My mind frame was to save money as this will be a run around car for school & market duties.

I got my hands on a 2007 Oriel Prosmatec with originally 120000 on the clock (as maintainence book is there) almost in original paint with 2 rear pieces sprayed. Interior looks new, apart from detailing required & drive is exactly what a well maintained Reborn should be, a real charm. Everything in perfect working form, from lights to ac to driving experience.

THE CATCH IS: some paint is faded, scratches/raggar somewhere. In a nutshell it's almost original but dull in looks. I fell for it as price i managed to bargain was unbelievable even by standards of an accidented repaired car

Will take delivery & immediately give it for bake painting. It's kind of a project car in terms of restoring the looks back to charming.

Personally this is my No.6 or 7 Reborn 8th Gen. The last one I sold was exactly an year back. It was a 2009 in absolutely original factory paint (except bumpers). Had to let it go with a very heavy heart.

A few more memories of my beloved Ex Reborn. I even asked the guy if he wants to sell it back and he refused point blank politely "bhai jaan ab aap koi aur gaari dhoondain main ne nahi bechni"

Long story bro, many factors including need of temporary finances. That car was in a too good condition to hand over for domestic driving duty. I previously had a Passo for the job, which was replaced by a 1000cc Belta and the Belta proved to be a car which makes you frustrated and angry while driving. So this project car was my emergency measure to get rid of Belta as i too needed to drive it often when going to site visits or trips to interior cities and villages which felt bad on other cars available. And Belta wasn't worth or capable of doing anything from acceleration, comfort to AC performance.
Hence this project car seemed to be an awesome alternative keeping the capital cost low compared to a higher budget gem condition Reborn.
Restoration/Reconditioned to avoid an ugly looking car parked under the porch. Atleast the car is now bang on to my taste in looks and overall condition.

As far as selling the other previous ones is concerned, have sold them earlier to either upgrade variant or change color. One went into a total loss and was paid in full amount by the insurance company as it was beyond repair. Remaining 2 are still around, one project reborn and another.

Super restoration project. Loving the wetness of the paint. It makes more sense now to buy a average condition car and then restore it to one's liking. As you said it costed you nearly 1.2 million in total. One cannot find such a car in 1.2 million.

Those cars also available in this budget are cheaply repaired and maintained. Mostly by dealers/investors or even private sellers have just fulfilled a formality of mending them on low budget. No matter apparantly how good they seem, market cars are temporary with the quality and those second hand cars in any case need proper budget to get things done. So better save as much as you can initially. Or the other option is find an original 2011/2012 Reborn driven genuinely less and maintained by authorised 3S, but for such a car very high budget is needed.
Middle budget ones don't make much sense to me, knowing you will have to spend on it further bringing it to your taste in any case.
To me it is satisfactory and made sense knowing I have done everything properly according to my taste. Nothing ugly hidden and substandard under the apparant visual make up.

Agreed. The one's that are totally genuine and very less driven have an idiotic price tag. One uncle I met at a dealer was asking 2.2 million for his 12 oriel pros because it was 8k km driven and total genuine -_-. Only few are there which are both mint condition and also the demand is not outrageous. A friend sold his 27k km driven civic oriel pros which was throughout maintained and in a neat nick for 1.6 million. Go figure.
    The men are back. @TGT.

Since you have kept so many reborn. Can I ask you one question (if you don't mind). What is the difference between old 2007 and 2012 reborns both have pleasure drive? And why did you get an automatic. I have always heard Manuals are best in Civics and Automatic cars are not fun to drive?

Mid 2006 to last quarter 2012, it's the same car. No difference at all apart from very minute unnoticeable changes in the interior mainly such as silver accented steering garnish 2009 onwards, different fabric 2009 onwards in Oriel, 2010 onwards in hardtop, CD changer built in panel (Oriel only) starting 2008 mid, an upgraded power window switch, upgraded power steering pipe and upgraded timing adjuster along with bigger belt.
Overall it's the same car, however the 2012 onwards 9th Gen Civic is a totally different story.
About the Prosmatec transmission, since 2004 onwards i have always kept an automatic car which is a must in the hectic rushy traffic of lahore. Also once you are constantly cruising at a speed of 120 plus on the motorway, gears don't matter. The Prosmatec isn't exactly boring as well. With a 140hp even the automatic isn't as boring to drive. Though I do admit sometimes manual is missed, but for a habitual auto driver that happens only sometimes. Don't exactly feel I miss out much.
Manual Civics kept getting extinct with every passing year with the result that manual transmission is now completely dead in the Civic name with the 10th Generation Civic.

Color scheme variations also took place with passage of time. Blue changed after 2008, Granite ended, Maroon changed, Green ended, Canyon Silver ended, even the black till 2008 was different compared to the black of 2009 onwards. The only constant colors were White & Silver
