Default Project Reborn 8th Gen Civic 2007

*Final results, few before & after starting from Post#315 onwards, cost edits at bottom of this very post#1*

Dear All, I had been looking for a good trouble free car for home use. As always, prices are insane around. Have sold & bought many Reborns. When selling, you don't get a good offer & when buying, you can't find a good car in reasonable price. Repainted cars are also overpriced.

I'd rather get a scratched faded car which hasn't been earlier repainted instead of buying an already repainted/touched car & God knows what underneath that make up to save money properly if I have to be budget conscious. If you should then save properly & if not then spend without thinking.

My mind frame was to save money as this will be a run around car for school & market duties.

I got my hands on a 2007 Oriel Prosmatec with originally 120000 on the clock (as maintainence book is there) almost in original paint with 2 rear pieces sprayed. Interior looks new, apart from detailing required & drive is exactly what a well maintained Reborn should be, a real charm. Everything in perfect working form, from lights to ac to driving experience.

THE CATCH IS: some paint is faded, scratches/raggar somewhere. In a nutshell it's almost original but dull in looks. I fell for it as price i managed to bargain was unbelievable even by standards of an accidented repaired car

Will take delivery & immediately give it for bake painting. It's kind of a project car in terms of restoring the looks back to charming.

    Great job bro.
Can you give contact number of some dealer in Bilal Gunj who deals in JDM Honda parts? I want to change over to Japanese seats in my 8th gen.
    Thanks

Excellent thread and project. I'm impressed by the amount of effort and detail put in. Really gives me the motivation to do something with my Civic. Maybe you guys can help me bring my car in the best possible shape (not that it is in bad shape right now, but it can do with some improvement, without deviating from stock setup).
I have a relatively good condition 2009-end Civic oriel prosmatec in golden beige colour. It has done 62k km and routine maintenance like engine oil, filters, etc, is done regularly by Honda here in Karachi.

    Current status:-
Body: It is relatively clean with some scratches on the bumpers front and back and a very small dent on the rear left fender.
Interior: Mostly clean. Original CD changer replaced with a not so good quality OEM like touchscreen unit with back camera. Screen is faded and this seems to be the first candidate for replacement. The interior generally quiet with a few creaks when going over bumps. Don't know if anything can be done about that.
Tyres: I replaced those to Michelin Energy XM2 some time back and am very happy with that decision.
Engine & Mechanical: Works well with the routine maintenance. Average in city driving is 7-8 km/l with AC, and around 10-11 km/l on highway, which is the norm I guess. Suspension is also ok, the Honda guys at the dealership asked me about vibrations at morning startup as the engine mounts looked 'weak' to them. We felt no vibrations so they didn't change the mounts. Brake pads were replaced with genuine parts.

    Things I require help with:-
Bumpers - the scratches are there and not very prominent but still visible. Can share a pic later. I am not entirely happy with the situation but would you guys recommend any touchup work, instead of the full repaint.
Paint/Interior - Need a restoration guidance. Paint is not dull or faded, but can have a better shine. Interior is also generally clean, but maybe not as clean as a detailed interior. I have looked up places in Karachi for detailing and restoration, but don't know who is good and reasonable. Any suggestions?
In-dash player - This has to be replaced, either with the original CD changer which I still have, or a proper OEM or similar unit that has a better screen. The back camera helps. What brand and model is appropriate? If the OEM one has exact same interface as the 2014 City OEM, then a similar OEM like would do. Any android options available for the in-dash player?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Looks awesome mashaAllah. But I have a suggestion if you don't mind. The plates aren't looking good. Original plates or black plastic ones would look so much better.

Yes you are right. After I desperately put non original acrylic white plates for better looks on Civic X without caring for a challan, I am now thinking I should put them on this car as well. Dekhi jaye gee.

Never used original plates till day on any car. So any fine day may be putting black acrylic plates on this car as well.

Its Caliber, a good chinese brand and I think it costed me 17.5 with camera. You can also try AVT, exactly the same things but 2 different names. Cost is same as well. I got it from DHA Lahore H block market from audio master behind yummy36

So, in the pics you probably can make out the AV unit. The screen looks faded even in this photo. In daylight, I cannot really see the back cam view, which in my City 2014's OEM unit is very clear. The chinese unit you are talking about looks better in the pics. Does it have a good enough screen, like the City OEM's at least?

Also, what do you say about the bumper scratches. Can anything be done by touching up the paint, or is it a straight full repaint for the bumpers.

Lastly, the small dent on the left fender right above the light cluster, any suggestions for that?

    All help appreciated.

The screen I have is pretty much acceptable. Not dull blur or faded. Can't compare with City Oem as haven't experienced it.

About the dent above light, let it stay unless someone cant do dry denting which i doubt would be possible as this area is closed from the back. Wouldn't suggest paint just for this small spot. Cant see bumper paint chipped exposing black in the night pictures you posted. If scratches you mentioned are not deep you can buff them out with a good compound. Your car Masha Allah looks clean and doesn't need much work apart from detailing. If possible add 16" oem reborn rims from international version with 205/55-16 tyres. Posting a reference picture of the rims.
