Question Need help deciding between a Civic and an Accord!

    Hey,

I will be buying a car very soon (Within the next week or so)

The problem is that I cannot decide between the Honda Civic 1.8 VTI Prosmatic (Reborn, 2006-2007 model)

Or the Accord CL7 or CL9 (2003 model).

If anyone has any experience with either cars, any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Warm Regards.

      I own both these cars - 2003 CL9 and 2007 Reborn Prosmatec (non-Oriel). Here's my experience:

Power - Accord is of course much more powerful, but Civic being lighter, you hardly notice any difference in city driving. Both have silky smooth engines that pull well from low RPMs
Grip - Accord has much more grip than the Civic. Its steering is also much heavier in feel and its suspension also feels harder than the Civic's (partly because my car is the one which has 215/45R17 tires which are lower in profile than the Civic's)
Brakes - both are excellent, cant tell much difference
Comfort - both have pretty much the same interior room (not very spacious in my opinion). The rear floor is flat in the Civic, not in the Accord. If you buy a fully loaded Accord then it will of course have much more features than the Civic comes with. Ride, as I said, is harder in the Accord but its seats are way way softer and more comfortable than the Civic's, hence it feels more comfortable
Fuel Consumption - I'd say the Civic gives about 10-15% better consumption in city driving whereas on longer routes and highway driving, the consumption is pretty much the same for both
Maintenance - both are expensive to maintain and in my experience the Accord is only slightly more expensive to maintain. Parts availability is better for the Civic of course, but that's not to say that I have struggled to find Accord's parts
Resale - of course you would have a much easier time selling the Civic than the Accord

Considering both these cars are very old, you will have to be careful when selecting. Civic will be 3-4 years newer than the Accord, but being locally built, its not as sturdy so there will be some sounds here and there. Plus there are some pet problems associated with early model Reborns, so lookout for those.
