    Default Help me regarding civic

    AOA

    We bought a 0 meter civic 2007 in july. Its only 180 kms driven till date. I want to take it out of the city. I just wanted advice from u ppl that should i take it on long drive or wait for its initial run, as writtrn in the book, of 1000 kms. Its written in the book that one should avoid rapid acceleration for the 1st 1000 kms and hard braking for the 1st 300 kms. I just need a good pieace of advice from all the experts that is it bad for the health of a new car if its taken out on a highyway?

    waiting for ur good replys.

    Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

    Yaar... Kuch nai hoota...

    The best way for initial running is following:

    Speed doesnt matter at all Really...

    Never Keep ur car at constant acceleration (RPMs)

    Never accelerate hard or brake Hard...

    Keep on changing the Rpms!!!

    Thats all!!! take it to any where!!!

    @khMalik: drive it under 120 and keep the drive light and soft. All manufacturers prefer that user keeps drive neat and not at high speed or braking since the engine is newly oiled and set in the car.........the wear and tear may not damage it till it hasnt completed its initial running (though they do it in factory also to an extent). Till u dont get oil changed once the drive needs to be normal not rash or what takes car to its limits......hope it helps...........congrats on new drive enjoy it...........

    @ khmalik! I would say keep it around 80-90 km/h max... I know its hard but will be good for your car's life.

    Yeah one more thing not too much of weight in your car, say 4-5 people max and NO CNG for till you done 1000km.

    (These are only my ideas on how to run a car for the first 1000km, some people may disagree with what I am saying)

    @khmalik
    The way you break into your ride is not to exceed 60% of redline on the rpm meter and not to run your car at constant speeds for over 40-45mins at a stretch. The latter only applies to highways as you obviously cant run the car at constant speed for such a length of time with in city limits
