    Default the beginning to a new start inshAllah (ahad_civic

    as most of u noe, water went into my engine during july which bent a connecting rod, and also that i turbo'd my car last week...either its just bad luck or its my stupidity... my father's "relaible" mechanic was told to fix my car wen i came bak to isb after driving a gud 1000km after the rod incident, i had a feeling that he clearly knew nothing of what he was doing, but i went with it since my father guaranteed gud work on it...now that idiot got the rod he did everything n without me noticing it he didnt tighten the crank pulley properly n niether did he close the engine properly, so the sound was still there that the connecting rod made, jus a bit less than before... this had to come sooner or later but since the already f'd up block cudnt hold the turbo's excessive power, it came to haunt me a bit earlier leaving my engine on the merge of blowing up...so now my car is turbocharged n parked in my house to come in my dreams n be driven ... khair it was sheer bad luck i hope this is a beginning to a new start... at the end i was satisfied by hpr n this was NOT hpr's fault what so ever, it was that mechanics fault he so called "fixed" my engine...props to hpr for the tuning to making such an unreliable head to even last a week...and no this was NOT the fault of the turbo it was the connecting rod, turbo is still perfect n up n running without n e problems

    @ahad_civic
    the bolts/studs/nuts used in fastening the crank head, everything in the engien are torque to yield items. this means that they can be only tightened to the desired specification once and then when you open them they cant be reused, if you use them they wont give you the desired strength. our dear mechanics over here dont admit this fact and when open the engine they reuse them which causes problems... i think this is what happened in your case too...
    take care of this fact next time
    its all about power to weight ratio...

    @ahad

    You are wrong when you say the D block is as reliable as any other block.

    The D16s run comparitevly high compression and still boost at 1bar with proper tuning and are diallly driven with eassse! There arent many 1.6 n/a engines that can take boost with such high compressions this easy! Esp at the cost and the power they make

    @all, thnak u for the sympathies

    @n20, no nothing happened to the pistons, im jus replacing the whole block now

    @tauseefmutwahir, its an ihi rhb5 turbine accompanied by an fmax kit

    now the thing is shud i replace a d17 or even d16 block n continue working on this or shud i sell this and k20 my other prosmatec civic considering either ways the tranny will become 6 speed manual...or shud i jus sell this engine as it is wit the turbo n get a k20?

    sorry to hear about it

    when you were getting it turbo'd, did you check the block if could take such power?

    normally going with turbo means modifying other parts which can actually take pressure and torque

    your mistake (if we call it that) was to rely on a mechanic who is used to do work on NA car's, you should had gotten the work done from a person who actually knew what he was doing

    anyways its a lesson learned, as for my advice sell the engine and go for the k20 like farrukh did or sell the car and go for a rx-8 which is cheap and will give you enough thrills to keep you happy for a while. It totally depends on your budget possibilities are endless if you ask me
