wow first of all we gt this as a reply
**i am sure i use it daily,my friends civic 97 gives him 18kpl and i am not joking.
2004 civic gives about 10kpl at the max**
dude trust me a mehran might nt give tht average on the motorway if its tht old !! wat are u talkin abt .. trust me if ur car gives 11km/l with ac inside the city u shuld be happy.... il buy the car if it gives 18 inside the city with no ac evn !!
adn if u say tht u smoked a altis a 1.8L car with ur vti tht old ... dude ur soo mistaken ... must have been a poor driver who doesnt knw jack abt drivin a car ... trust me it would beat u ... and with a gap .. and if u compare a 7th generation civic in performance with a 6th generation dude the 7th generation would beat u ... with a cars length ... atleast and well the drive of the car is def better thn the old one ... has better road grip ... has a stiffer ride due to the roads as cylestyne already mentioned ...
ya i would say the i like the rear of the 6th generation abit more ... bt over all the 7th generation is way better no doubt !!
I have 2005 Vti manual and I have beaten many older civic on CNG. Talk reality dude... and keep in mind that an auto is slower than a manual and a Mehran can never ever beat a Civic wether it is an auto or manual.
I have a 96 Civic (the one with only discs in the front)and a 98 Civic (with 4 wheel disc brakes). Both cars are in the same condition and have done the same mileage. They're both automatics as well.
I want to get one of them back into perfect condition. Which one shall I go for and why?
6th Gens CIVIC are the best ever produced car of its time and still they are better off than the 7th gens...Comfortable,stylish and they look far better than any civics till today
i have both of them....
my 6th gen has done 1.7lac km and it still i enjoy seating in it cos of the low profile....still economical...strong body
my 7th gen has done 25000km and i dont enjoy the suspension and seats ...really hard ....plus my pro give me 8km/l....brake are not good....noises from windows...its seem like its made of paper
my votes goes to 6th gen ........
correction, my 2005 Honda Civic VTi with D16W9 is giving me mashallah 12kmpl in city and 14kmpl on highway, it has done 6500km, original Dunlop SP300 sport tyres, and all those who are saying that 7th gen civic has bumpy ride are not correct, the car was designed for smooth roads on which stiff suspension wud give more stability, it was not designed for worn out pakistani roads, plus Honda Atlas has done NO modifications in the suspension as i have driven the same 7th gen in dubai. and strong body of 6th gen means that it is not as safe as 7th gen civic's body in which G-CON technology has been used.

If you are planning for a swap go for the best swap for your civic that is the B16a engine, plus fix your car which has all 4 wheel disc, its the best, engine can whip any car 2001-2005 and its a amazing feeling when the Vtec kicks in!
Fix the 98
thanks for your help, once again will take your advice.
most welcome ,post some pics of your both rides now
will take some pics today when I go home.
6th gen looks best when modified
Last year I went to Karachi to get a 2000 Civic. I have a thread for it. I got it from an old uncle and it is as stock as it gets. That car is giving me around 13 km/l on highway MAX and around 10 max in city. It's pretty fast. I've beaten a 7AFE Corolla, 3 D15B civics with it. It accelerates faster than my friend's Altis. I'm not making any claims but it appears to be so. I've got videos in the videos section of it racing the d15b civics.
Now, we also have a 2005 Civic and it's a good car but it's a little slower than the 2000 but I must say, the 2005 is actually faster than many other 2005's i've tried.
And by the way, the Civic does not give 18kpl mileage and no, it's not 90hp. If it were, I wouldn't be beating a 130ps JDM D15B.
I hardly check topics back so if anyone wants proof or wants to debate, e-mail me!
My engine history; CB70 -> 4EFTE -> D15B VTEC -> D16Y6 VTEC -> 1JZ-GTE
So here are the pics of the 2 Civics. I have to choose one to completely bring back to mint condition. I'm thinking of having the car fully repainted, changing the grill,l adding lips to both bumpers, new rims & tyres and new seat/door fabric. Here are some details:-
Let me know what you think.
Gold 1998 Civic (Automatic) - 1.6l - 114,000km with 4 wheel disc brakes
Silver 1996 Civic (Automatic0 - 1.6l - 154,000km with 2 wheel discs
M in favor of 6th gen bcz of loooks & performance
Gr8 cars buddy!! now take them for a complete wash
