Default For All Civic 1.8 users

All - I intend to buy a Prosmetic VTI Oriel, but I have a couple of concerns about it. Please have me your comments / advices out of your experience on the following questions / issues:

1 - It is not possible to view approx 6-7 feet ahead of the bonut. How much uncomfortable does it become while driving? and is this something which one can easily adapt himself to?

2 - Height of the ceiling is a bit low (may be only in the Oriel bcuz of the sun roof?) Reducing the seat height increases the problem explained in the previous question...

3 - Any known issues with Prosmetic version?? e.g. jerking conversion etc???

    Thanks in anticipation

buksh might be the right person to answer this
if tc=p then hc=m where tc is equal to toyota corolla and p is equal to paindu, and hc is equal to honda civic and m is equal to moron

yes you really cannot see the very close front and one mis judge the front of the car

secondly the roof is pretty low but the front seats are comfortable problem lies with the rear seat no leg room no head room.

and the prosmatec version is excellent no jerking or any thing.

I dont own the car my uncle does and I have driven it lots of times but I will definitely prefer Altis over civic due to many reason but over all its a very nice car.

visibility may be a slight problem but the low seating height makes u feel like ur sittin in a coupe or something, which is gr8. bro buy this car its just awesome! the sunroof adds more fun to the driving experience. the car is excellent, performace wise and comfort wise.

P.S i own a manual VTi oriel, dont buy any atomatic tranny car, manual is the real deal bro. toyotas are not nearly good enough for hondas, civic's low ride makes its road grip, and is very aerodynamic, thus, increasing fuel economy and performance is way better than altis.

    @farculate
yaar i have sat in my friend's civic vti. it gives u special feeling with the huge dashboard and the steering wheel in ur lap. the gear is at excellent place u dont have to take ur hand very much away from the steering.
yes it is impossible to see the dashboard no matter what u do... i tried my best but all in vain.. i think its a drawback in the congested driving areas. i also dont like the dashboard quality and material...
he takes the civic to 104 km/h in 2nd gear. the rev limiter also feels good plus the engine sound. the ride is very stable and u r amazed to see the speed in the meter while u think it wud be 50 km/h.
it was all from my side... thnx

Thanks for ur comments guys,...i appreciate it a lot...

@ Newton... Sorry brother, no entry for corollas,...

Guys, the thing here is that i am strongly attracted towards the fascinating interior and marvellous performance of this car. But the moment I had a chance to step into this car, my emotions experienced a mighty slap and all my enthusiasm went down to ground. How could a company like Honda make such a design blunder? This was my first question to myself!!!

I feel trapped and confined, sitting in the car because of the low height... I would still ask you if it is easy to adapt yourself with the short-comings of this car?

Secondly why are u all recommending Manual and not prosmetic? Kindly have me a reason for that...

    Thanks again,...

i will recommend you auto one, as modern auto tranny's have matured over the years, and considering the traffic situation... auto is the future...

    1. I don't have any such problem, I'm 6'0 and don't feel the legroom or headroom in the front or rear to be lacking at all. I have friends who are 6'3+ who also can fit in comfortably in the front. Adults of 6'0 should have no problem in the rear. The drivers seat does not become uncomfortable at all
during driving. Offers excellent lumbar support, plus the firm feeling of a Honda bucket seat.

    2. I dont feel this way. Maybe it would cause a problem for people above 6'3 in the rear but not in the front. Keep in mind, the car is a compact family sedan, not a van or a limo. The back seat is usually designed for children or average sized adults (5'9 typically).

    3. While I personally have a manual Oriel I've driven the autos owned by other family members, the shifting cannot even be felt. Its very smooth and a decent pick (the auto that is). The manual might give you a few jerks initially if you're not used to drive-by-wire since its pretty sensitive. But the pick on the manual is pretty good.

Hope this helps, and good luck (y)

I like the styling of the new civic...but the A-pillars are huge and when taking a sharp right or a U-turn, these pillars block the drivers view......which is quiet dangerous...a bedford can hide behind the pillars...other than that..its pretty quick...

    Salam

I would suggest to wait for the New corolla to arrive, then decide.
My bro owns a manual Oriel and I fall in love with this car each time I see it. He had been a corolla user for more than 10 years, and last year he bought civic on my recommendation. and now he says, "yar! I will never be able to drive a corolla again".

I havent driven the vehicle, though have been it many times and am aware of feedback from owners. The automatic simply couldnt be better- VERY smooth shifting and its a 5 speed automatic which makes the 08 Civic the ONLY 5 spd auto in its class (Y).

The front seats are quite comfortable. A friend is around 5'8 and says theres absolutely no issue in visibility nor in sitting comfort. This specific pal drives the auto version i-Vtec Vti Oriel.

But I have not driven it at all so cant give you 1st hand exp.

Good luck with whatever you're trying to do (Y)

I dont know how u r thinking the low height to be a design blunder. anyway, the seat height can be adjusted and raised if u prefer that.
and yes, the hood is not visible, but u get used to it pretty soon. i have parallel parked my civic a couple of times and this wasnt even a problem.
id say get a manual as its more fun. i have an automatic, though theres no problem with it, and the 5 speed auto makes it much much better than the 4 speed auto of a corolla, but still it makes the car boring.

well, dont wait for the new corolla. its no improvement over the current one. a couple of magazines here in usa have compared it with civic and other cars in class and new corolla landed in the last position in most of the tests, or atleast didnt beat civic in any test.
