Default For All Civic 1.8 users

All - I intend to buy a Prosmetic VTI Oriel, but I have a couple of concerns about it. Please have me your comments / advices out of your experience on the following questions / issues:

1 - It is not possible to view approx 6-7 feet ahead of the bonut. How much uncomfortable does it become while driving? and is this something which one can easily adapt himself to?

2 - Height of the ceiling is a bit low (may be only in the Oriel bcuz of the sun roof?) Reducing the seat height increases the problem explained in the previous question...

3 - Any known issues with Prosmetic version?? e.g. jerking conversion etc???

    Thanks in anticipation

I am using the Oriel Prosmatic. Driven just 2000kms and in which made a trip to isb. The cars very comfortable and you dont feel an jerks while the gears being shifted. Yeah in the begining you are like wtf why cant i see the bonnet clearly. Then in a day or so so you will Inshallah get the hang of it. I parallel park atleast four time's a day and never faced any problems.

i had a chance to briefly drive a 1.8 ivtec manual, though u feel a bit cramped out but the interior is like space age dudes and the feel, pickup and stability of the ride is superb

BTW, dont wanna start another cold war but i also drove an altis once (manual), the pickup is great but the ride is not enjoyable and classy like the ivtec!!!

Keep in mind, the car is a compact family sedan, not a van or a limo. The back seat is usually designed for children or average sized adults (5'9 typically).
even a 1.0l cultus offers better legroom for rear passengers... no offense

if you can drive a city..then you can drive the new civic too..lowered bonnet should cause no problems at all..visibility is probably the best..you can feel what all-around visibility this car would provide just by looking from the outside..the windows are HUGE..!!..and beautifully shaped..closely observe the shape of the front windows..only modern high perfomance cars have windows like these..

i agree with the head room space but i don wanna cause a major arguement except that there is a lot of head and leg space in the Civic 1.8!

the legroom is fine , its just the headroom

the ride is absolutely smooth but there are a lot of blind spots due to the weird pillar. Shifting is not an issue, unless you're going CNG. For some weird reason, the civic PTs are horribly slow on cng as compared to other autos.

visibility is a very big issue with the civic, even though i own the 1.6 Vti version, it too has the same problem, driver seat is too low, the window barrier of the front passenger and the rear passenger always gets in the way wen i try to look at the traffic coming frm the left side of the road.....but i am completely satisfied with the ride comfort and performance, i still drive it on petrol and it gives me a good averagem i have driven the 1.8 one and still the seating is a big issue, atleast for me........
u hav sum valuable info frm this thread, choose wisely!
How could somebody steal my identity, when i still haven't figured out who am I ???

    @lotus
Yes. Thats true, Ill admit it. The Cultus has a very surprising legroom both front and rear (Y). But I think its the same as offered in the new Civic, however both are WAY better than the 02-08 Corolla which features terrible rear legroom. :s

But its only Cultus. Not Mehran, Vitz, Alto, Cuore, City, Baleno, Liana or any other such vehicle.

i got used to it quickly. parking/ tight traffic areas, not a problem

2 - Height of the ceiling is a bit low (may be only in the Oriel bcuz of the sun roof?) Reducing the seat height increases the problem explained in the previous question...
seat height is adjustable if i remember correctly, sun roof does take a inch or so, and yea, rear is not that much high, but still, not at all uncomfortable for average sized person.

3 - Any known issues with Prosmetic version?? e.g. jerking conversion etc???
very smooth, very long gear ratios, on highways, M2 to be specific, the car does shift down 4th gear every now and than on inclines, can be annoying, on a manual car, one would simply press on the gas a lil more, but prosmatic shifts down every time it wants to accelerate or maintain speed.
