    Default Honda Civic 2008- Modifications

i am also interested in such a modification, i hope my car will be with me by sometime in mid-august.

    i have the following queries:

    1. can a stock civic 1.8 manual transmission(having r18 engine series) can keep up with an accord CL-7 (2000cc, auto transmission).

    2. i guess the locally assembled have 140bhp. what can be done to make it close to 180bhp, off course without any engine swapping.

    3. what is the availability of engine modifications parts such air intakes, headers and exhaust, turbos etc of a good brand for civic in karachi and the availability of a good technician.

    4. availability of brembo brakes kit for this civic

    5. availability of sports suspension.

    6. installation of a Limited slip differential

    7. availability of an original type R (FD2) body kit and spoiler

    8. how about 18" alloy wheels with 245/45 tyres

    9. the below link says tht the ECU for R series engine is same K series engine. is this of any advantage for modifications;
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_R_engine

i think these are enuf questions for the time being.

    thanks and regards.

    1. 1.8 is faster than a CL-7, it can keep up with a CL-9 as well.

    2. Yes if you turbo it at 5 PSI (stock internals can take 9 PSI)

    3. TSI makes a reliable turbo for this, the cost of the kit is $4,500 with everything needed

    4. $2,500 for the setup. Better option is to go for K-Sports or Wilwoods as they'll have a bigger brake setup with more pistons.

    5. Honda Factory Performance, basically very similar to the Type R suspension. Cost is about $600

    6. Nope

    7. You can get one from Japan, its pretty expensive ($3,500 for the whole thing including fenders).

    8. Easily available in Karachi

    9. ECU isn't the same, it has the same coil-on-plug ignition as the K series, not the same computer.

The prices I've mentioned are in USD, since the parts aren't available here Good luck with your project.

Well i seriously admire the 1.8 civic Manual than any other car and thats why i have its picture in my display as well because i like its each and every part

Well it seems quite easy for the civic to compete with the accord CL 7 because it is 155 hp but for the CL 9 seems a bit difficult because its 197 hp where as the civic is 140 hp

    To Cylestyne

Dude i think the Civic 1.8 Stock VTi Manual would be the fastest among the 4 variants of the New Civic 1.8 because the Oriel Model is a bit heavier and is also slightly higher than the VTi

NOW WHATS YOUR OPINION REGARDING THIS MATTER?

    1. oriel is heavier, but the m/t wouldnt be too far behind the base m/t Besides its not a sports car (but is a good platform for one).

    2. it can keep up with a cl-9, never said anything about it beating one
