    hi..
just gave token money for a silver 2005 Honda Civic Vti Oriel Prosmatic . The guy didn't drive it for 2 months so the battery is dead. I am thinking of putting a maintenance free battery. Any recommendation on brand & model? thanks

    Dear Alamzaibshafi,
Pay a visit to melody market to battery dealer.
you may find bosch, osaka, volta and hankook battaries. Please verify the battery power after consulting your car manual book.

bosch will cost you around 7-9K. (best)
osaka will cost you around 4-5 K same will be hankook. (best)
volta is currently manufactured in pakistan but it will cost you less than the others. Acid batteries by volta are used in trucks and HTs.

    rest is your choice.

both Hankook and Yuasa make excellent batteries.

I am using Panasonic maintenance free battery in my 96 Civic Exi. It has lasted two years and is still going good. It cost about 2500 at the time.

You can also consider AC Delco Maintenance free available at Metro.

i dont know how i can comprehend all that... I today replaced my Global brand (korea) lead acid battery after 3 years and one month... Global battery is the biggest korean battery manufacturer and is licenced from yuasa japan. i bought hankook with 40Ah for my santro.. i was looking for global but it was not available in Hyderabad so i went for hankook.
Buying a battery for your car is tricky. I would suggest every body to avoid local company lead acid batteries.... why ? its all clear... lead acid depend on the quality of lead used in the battery ... pak manufacturers use low quality lead.. so battery last for just 13 to 18 months max if your lucky... if you still cannot understand just use alladin cell or chanda and use toshiba. i wont mind if the battery is dry or lead acid .. both are good but they should be imported... well when i say imported it does not mean that there will be thappa of imported.. like there are so many china made dry batteries imported by local companies and here they put thappa of their own name .. some of them using the name of "yuasa" .. you see the name but it is just a crap low end china battery . so be care full.

if i like to advise through my experience. i feel comfortable to recommend.
global power korea. ( now only coming as dry , i will also recommend its lead acid)
    Hankook (korea)
ACDelco i think its also korea.
i assure you they will not let you down... if you even cannot come across all those .. go for any imported battery brand even for lead acid battery... the shop keeper will always try to misguide you as they get better margins for those local crap.

    I hope this will help.

    Sir

The best battery for your Honda is ACELCO 45AH for 5,000rs or 37AH for 4,000 whichever suits you best.

the imported so called MF batteries are actually calcium alloy lead acid batteries - they are wet just like regular exide ones.. The difference is that they do not evaporate their electrolyte fast enough to reduce level.

my experience of properly making electrolyte with lab grade H2SO4 and lab grade distilled acid at 1.270 SG will make a difference of night and day with any battery whether pakistani or imported.

I use pak origin batteries with this electrolyte and they can crank up any big starter for any amount of time - and actually last

You've been advised of batteries - don't forget to get all the rubber parts/belts/bushes/mountings/brakes inspected before you take the car on a long route.

Excessive idle standing spoils rubber. It hardens and brakes.

^^ always check your battery with a hydrometer and standing voltage test compared to the hydrometer reading
