    Default ]]]]] Problems in New 2009 Corolla

    NOTE: Only 2009 Corolla Owners

    Discuss the problems that you have faced with your 2009 new corolla. I am not here to solve them but let's see how many 2009 corolla owners are satisifed with their car. Only Corolla owners comments will be accepted not honda fan boys or anti-corolla peoples.

    [toofast edit] This is not a Corolla/Civic comparison thread. This thread will help future car buyers. I would recomemend same type of threads for Civic, Baleno or any other car owners too. All Civic or non Corolla owners please stay out of this thread. i will delete any stupid/unrelated replies from this thread. We need input from current gen. Corolla owners only. Thanks
    It is impossible to please everybody.

    His is altis and yours is GLI (based on one of your posts), there's a lot of difference in these two cars in terms of power..

    @hassanj

    sir i think these meters are just to give u an idea they canot be 100percent accurate ....do u reset the meter will all readings i mean reset distance and reset the average also separately?....usually i have found that the difference in actuall average calculated manually and by car is about 0.5 to 1km/litre .....just yesterday i came from faisalabad trip two people in car with a/c speed was most of time around 110 with few shorts instances of 170km/hrs for experimental purposes....average shown by meter is 13.6km/litre and manually i calculated from tank fillit was around 13.4km/litre.....in city its terrible ...

    Just try to ignore sounds cause every now and then when i listen too closely i hear one sound or other ..... however there have been two times when i was delivered brand new car and clips of doors were missing so look for it .

    @mani

    Did the testing and your are right at 170km/hr car becomes slower although rpm was just around 4.2 or 4.4.......

    I have a 2010 Gli and haven't really found a problem at this time but the recall has indeed had its affect on me and now i am not so sure about the sticky accelerator pedal...Here are the details of problems stated by Toyota itself.

    What is the problem that could cause accelerators to stick and led to the recall?
    The issue involves a friction device in the pedal designed to provide the proper “feel” by adding resistance and making the pedal steady and stable.

    This friction device includes a “shoe” that rubs against an adjoining surface during normal pedal operation. Due to the materials used, wear and environmental conditions, these surfaces may, over time, begin to stick and release instead of operating smoothly. In some cases, friction could increase to a point that the pedal is slow to return to the idle position or, in rare cases, the pedal sticks, leaving the throttle partially open.

    What is the solution Toyota announced to fix sticking accelerator pedals?
    Toyota’s engineers have developed and rigorously tested a solution that is both effective and simple. A precision-cut steel reinforcement bar will be installed into the accelerator pedal assembly, thereby eliminating the excess friction that has caused pedals to stick in rare instances.

    So anyone who has any of of these or other associated problems please discuss them here.

    I highly doubt that our beloved president would ever let a recall happen here in Pakistan as long as he gets his part of the share....so its every man for himself. Please feel free to comment about these problems and share with us if anything that comes up. Your co-operation is highly appreciated.

    Keep your eyes and ears open and drive safe

    Altis has a optitron meter with a better display and information panel which shows various information such as which door is open and whether trunk or hood is open.

    Default Fellow Owners please help for Tyres !!!

    I have bought an XLI recently !
    Please comment whether the tyres Euro Star 195/65 are good to keep!

    1) I feel they are rigid and when i drive the car gets moved with uneven road. My Previous model xli had Goodyear tyre and i enjoyed.
    2) If i change the tyres then will the warranty be void... Did any of you face such an issue with warrantly ?

    Rest i like it a lot... what a shape... Its Black !

    Comment on Euro Star & Warranty issue Please !

    @AmerAliKhan
    Euro Star tires are just SO SO. My GLi has been driven 6000+ km on Euro Stars. these tires are noisy and specially on highways like GT road and Motorways, there is a lot of tire noise. Grip is OK not too good not too bad.

    About warranty issue, I once talked to Toyota Walton people and they said that if you keep the size same then there is no issue with the warranty but if you will increase or decrease the size, suspension warranty will be void. and I think 195/65 R15 is a good size for XLi/Gli.

    If you want to change these tires then Yokohama db and Yokohama C drive are also good options.

    Thanks,

    P.S. please see the warranty booklet for exact information about tire size and if you don't find any substantial information then just give a call to the dealership and they will tell you everything.

    @amiralikhan
    Eurostar is manufactured by general tyres. They are very unreliable as they caused 3 lethal accidents of altis after bursting on motorway as reported on pakwheel, you can search forum. After reading all this as soon as i got my corolla i changed its tyre to GT one, I am very satified, They have more grip on braking and produce very less noise on highways. Rest the choice is urs.

    Thanks a lot for your suggestions... Really Good ones...
    @Razi
    Yes, u r right... My XLI has just done 200 kms and believe me when i drove it i felt like the car is moved a lot with the road uneven pattern... I decided no to sacrifice my lacs for thousands... :-)

    @DrTanveerAli
    In Euro Star... Its the major hit that i feared... The car moves away with the road and with the Electronic Steering control i could not have the feeler of the road so that i could accordingly react... Off n on one had to get tense about the drive..

    finally, it was Yesterday that i changed the Tyres... :-)
    Let me share it...
    I called the Dealership.... they said that No warranty issue if you go for same SPECS. I feel 195/65 was the perfect size so i went for Dunlop 195/65 - Sport300.
    Too soft.... I feel the difference... More control as the tyres take some responsibility of dealing with bad road.. heehee... Euro Star was putting all the pressure on me...
    So I am a Happy man now.... Same Size with more confort and little or no consumption issue...
    Thanking you a lot !

    Hi,

    I am using Euro Star tyers in my Xli. I have done 6000 km yet but found no problem at all.

    The reason is that .........

    I have installed Genuine Altis Rims.
    There is no noise or Clamor in my car.

    MyA very very Sincere friend (tyre Dealer) advise me to use these tyres up to 20,000 to 25,000 km then replace with best ones.
    After the mentioned millage they will bocome more harder & noisy.

    So dear friends plz check the noise again .The sound is not from Euro star tyres on Highways or motor ways.but from the factory fitted rims or wheal cups or non genuine rims.

    Thanks
