Default Diesel VS Petrol Engine 1986 corolla

    Hi Friends.

A question about 86 corlla car converted to diesel

If he engine is about to give up, kindly give your opinion about

    A) Keeping it diesel i-e putting another used diesel engine in it

    B) Swapping the diesel enigine for a petrol engine of 1200cc

    C) Swapping the diesel engine for a petrol engine of 1600cc

Keep in mind the current price of diesel , petrol and cng (including the initial investment of cng kit)

If the above situation has been discussed in another thread, kindly paste the relevant link!

    Thanks!

Well no one seems to reply, here is another question:

Can someone convey about the difference between 1300 cc and 1600cc efi toyota engines available?

Meaning the efficiency, mileage, problems etc and performance of 1300cc when converted to cng?

    Thanks

go for 4efe engine. it will be sufficient and more economical to run

the original engine 2E, will be hard to trace a good piece. and even if u do so, it will be quiet costly
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

I agree with Hash. Original engine 2e was also not very powerful and economical. Go for 4efe its EFI it will give you good mileage on cng and petrol
Speed costs money, how fast can you afford to go.

    Here is the update:

Swaped the engine from Diesel to 4E-FE

Well actually mated an auto transmission for the engine separately.

All went well, the car runs fine, however the problem is the Very Bad fuel economy.

Thought was that 4E-FE would be economical, but it is giving around 7.5-8 km/ liter!

Even if converted to manual tranny it will most probably give around 9-10 km/ l which is still not good for this engine, expectation was around 13-14 km/l and around 15-17km/l on highway

Can anyone tell me about the 4E-FE fuel economy in the above mentioned car? is 7-8 km/ liter normal?

The engine seems to be working fine, as the idling is good and there are water vapors from the exhaust in the morning, No misfiring etc!

Now the question is how to proceed further:

    1) Stay with the same engine and do some kind of adjustment?

    2) Get 5E-FE, 5A-FE or 4A-FE engine? because if 4E-FE is giving 7-8km/l then why not go for a more powerful engine?

Will be looking forward to the valuable input and suggestions from members,

    Thanks.

    Another Update About M.P.G

Sorry for the wrong MPG earlier!

    1. This time the tank was completely filled and the fuel was filled till auto shutoff, then drove around urban / city conditions for 25k.m., came back to the same filling station and refilled the tank till auto shut-off;
      Fuel consumed=1.82liters,
      Distance covered=25k.m.which gives around 13.7 km/liter/li
    2. Filled the tank upto the fuel tank mouth, drove around city with some open stretches for about 31 k.m. (NOT motorway or national highway). Came back to the same filling station and refilled the the tank to the fuel tank mouth;
      Fuel consumed= 1.91 Liters
      Distance covered=31 k.m. which gives around 16.2 km/liter/li
    3. Mind you that the 4E-FE engine is mated to an auto transmission, thus proving that 4E-FE gives good fuel economy even with auto tranny./li
