Default Is it the end of Diesel Corolla

so around 7-10 years ago, 2.0d corolla was the hot favi for the carjackers, Insurance companies had stopped subscriptions for the diesel corolla, In recent times IMC is struggling in selling these once hotcakes... with even discounts of upto 0.3 million, it has failed to attract buyers, with diesel prices hovering above the petrol ones, is it the right time to say good bye to the diesel!

people who use Highbeams.. once day would suffer too bigtime. People who drive slow on fast lanes, remember one day a vehicle carryin ur son, dad might get late to hospital coz people like u. underaged driving will land u in bigtime trouble one day or the other.. And the Blue indication light on ur speedometer denotes "High Beams"

that in my opinion will be a good time to buy 1
Thoughts like these will keep the prices of 2D floating.

Anyhow driving Diesel is an addiction which all Diesel lovers understand. Newer Diesel engines in Pakistan have failed due to high sulphue content in local available diesel fuel. The 2C has survived all these odds and is a suucess in Pakistan and is still to some extent.

    Diesel al the way.

i guess, diesel has no driving pleasure, with japan putting breaks on diesel engines, i suppose its high time in pakistan too, to end "domestic" diesel cars...

Well about driving pleasure of diesel, i agree with it to some extent. Although the pleasure of petrol can't be achieved on diesel and the pleasure of diesel can't be achieved on petrol. U'll feel like ur driving some big thing.

Come to the topic, yes finally that is the end of diesel. 2.oD was like a hot cake in NWFP but now all those people have switched to XLi (say ecselii). Still in FATA, areas like waziristan, dir, swat etc where there is no availability of gas. Diesel is a hit and will remain a hit due to its low end torque

wat people dont understand is the fuel average, The Deisel Engine Corolla gives a better mileage then the petrol ones,

a friend of mine claims of a having an average of 18 - 19 km per liter (highway+cites) on an indus Corola, he sold it thou but he claimed it.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

i think there are many places in pakistan where there no cng available so there wiill be no hurry of ending of diesel corolla, by the way the new corlla body was actually design for diesal engine so why the put petrol engine in it and the result the braking issue and now people call them cowrolla

my brand new corolla 2001 did 17km/l and 0-100 in 14 sec on motorway straight out of showroom(hehhehehe Im obsesed with speed) and top speed 220km/h
hen my 2006 corolla 2.0d saloon again did 24 km/l(i m not fking kidding it did and now adyas after 1lakh it do 15-17km/l) it did 0-100 in 13.27 sec not much a big difference cause engine was same top speed 230km/h(it could have gotten to 250 but got motorway ticket and my bro got afraid)
now my 2001 corolla after 1.5 lakh does 7km/liter and 0-100 in 19.8 sec and top speed 150km/h and 2005 still does 190km/h top speed with 5 persons sitting lhr-fsd love it
NO freaking petrol can do this
in 2006 lahore to fsd about 300km(home to home) 2600 full tank and all the way at 160 km/h with full ac on and 5 persons sitting in car and roughned air filter(though mobil oil was new) and when we reached fsd 1/4 tank was still left
so my freinds what do u say i dnt think 20ds will ever end i will be more happy to buy a diesel then cng fitted crappy cicvic but if its on hi-octane then its a different story
but i took care of my car like my baby plus no acceleration whatso ever great handling (2001) and
but what hi octane can do for u speed demons out there no other diesle or petrol can do

I agree to @poster for end of Diesel for person using car for Home to Office in City Drive especially city having high traffic and have Traffic Jams.

But its only true for big Cities other Rural or small Citiies have no answer for Diesel Corlla still they are big Success, if u not Believe check Sales of Toyota in Mirpur, Quetta and other small Cities they put banner that 2010 Diesel Corolla Booking Open.

Still a person haveing frequent Highway or Hilly or lOng drives Diesel Suites best, as CNG as just headache, after fillup you have pain for whr to fill up now and u r screwing ur Engine and alot of work in old engines. Still i prefer to go for 2.OD over XLI or GLI as thy sucks especially after 3k RPM.

But what about expensive maintance (frequent oil change, tunning, etc) as compared to petrol engine. Recently I owned new city and after 550 miles drive in local found petrol consumption better than mehran.

    Default 2.0 D fuel economy

yes i agree, i drive a 2001 2.0 D corolla on lhr-isd motorway , with fuel prices sky rocketing, i average a speed of no more than 90-95 km per hour which gives me an excellent fuel economy of 19.5 km per litre. but takes an hour longer to reach destination. the trade off is, Rs500/- saved ata cost of one hour delay ONE WAY, round trip saves u Rs.1000
