I think toyota is unable to sell their diesel variants so they gave this ad "aik full tank tu millay 800 Km di drive"

When new corolla was about to launch there was a rumour that they are introducing D-4D engine in it but they said they are not because of poor diesel quality.
It is impossible to please everybody.

Well.... I've already done 815 Km on a full tank (45Litres) of my Honda City 2005 this March with 85,000 Km on the odometer at that time on the M2 from Lahore to Islamabad and back (with some city driving in islamabad and lahore too) in one full tank with a avg speed of 80KM (painful for some people to maintain that speed on the motorway ).

I can still do that with on petrol and 45 litres while Corolla Diesel with 55 Litre tank isn't a big deal I guess.

@akbar its just marketing trick as i mentioned in my last post diesel corolla at current price of diesel even if it does 800km is expensive as compared to 1800cc petrol (civic/corolla) on highway.....if you have smaller engine u will be getting even better mileage.....the best i have achieved is 14.5km/litre on auto se saloon speed 110-120 km/hr....Honda city is even better .....and the noise level of diesel is not good either.......

after 1000km in brand new car u get same noise of engine as from a 20 year old rolla

    hate that thing ....

agree with members..1300cc either gli or city batter then this

    more power..
    more millage
    less token fee
    less expenses
and if u get CNg even more milage

since the ad is mainly in local language, its clearly aimed at the not so educated public.. I bet it would help them reel in quite a few uninformed people too.. and thanks to such people, the local motor mafia is thriving hard..

i have myself experienced 2.0ds average this year on our trip to northern areas. We observed an average of 22km/Litre with A/C on motorway. The model is 2002 total 70k driven first hand. We achieved it by limiting the top speed to under 100km/hr.
Apart from sound diesels are easier to maintain and they are less expensive to drive on highways.

They are lacking in sales of 2.OD. That`s why its a marketing tact nothing else. I got gli09 a month ago and i can say its far more better then new 2.OD.One of my cousin owns new 2.OD and he tells me that it give slight more millage then petrol. So no such big difference as they are lying . Whenever i go to Toyota motors Islamabad, i saw more n more Glis are ready for delivery in Que. No single 2.OD i have seen yet there in ready to deliver Que with applied for tag.

I agree bro. I happen to have the same model and a little over 18 km/lit with 4 adults, 2 kids and a lot of luggage. Another good thing is that you have all the space in the trunk, available and the power to pull all u can carry. A great car and soooooooo much fun to cruise around......

Hmmm..OK as per their claim, one can get 800km/tank or as someone already mentioned 14.5km/l ON HIGHWAY.But what about city driving??i'm sure most of us drive mostly within city, with 1-2 trip/month on highway. So i would be more concerned about 2.0D's in city avg. rather then highway.
Qaiser Pal,I have not failed. But found 1 of 10,000 ways which doesn't work.....Toyota driver "I couldn't repair my brakes,so i made my horn louder"..When i was born i was so surprised that i didn't talked to one and half year..since light travel faster then sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak..If u can't convince them, confuse them

    hahahah i like this ad
who wants to buy a 2.0D when the grade of diesel is same as before
and its not even a TDI engine or D4d Engine
If it was a 2.0 D4D i d buy it in a heartbeat but since its the same old engine who wants to even look at it
Diesel corolla is worth it with a D4d engine as it is much more quicker and stable on long route and gives a good MPG probably much much more than 800kms in a full tank
    anyways
    good luck toyota
a pretty car indeed just a bit misguided
