Default Toyota Corolla 2.OD (2C Engine) Tuning & Preventive Maintenance

    Dear Friends,

For Diesel Engines i have heard that only keep changing the Engine Oil on time and no need of any other kind of Tune up or Maintenance unless you feel some problem or problem really comes to you.

Please discuss and clarify according to your knowledge and experience, as soon again Corolla 2.OD sale will go high as CNG is becoming headache rather than any benefit. So here i am expecting high number of replies to get clarify for Diesel Engine Tune ups and Preventive Maintenance.

Alongwith the oil you need to change the filters (Oil and Fuel) at regular intervals

    ^ you deserve THAT!
    haha

Anyways, you better stop going to them, its not even funny. Buy good oil, filter and etc, goto your mechanic and get the work done. Get the bolts and whatever checked, give him 300 rupees and BE DONE WITH IT.

They change the Oil, Filters from thr stock if some mechanic can do in Rs. 300 all this then no issue. i also visit Toyota b/c thy have better Equipment i know i went for Oil change to one mechanic and one Chotta went under to untighten the Oil Drianage Bolt and he came back by taking the support of one pipe under engine side and then very nxt day i got Coolant Leakage from tht pipe its mess up.
Also 2.OD Engine Oil Filter is put on very awkward place and many use the chain or Timing Belt to tighten or untighten and thy shake all Engine in tht.

Toyota is good for small maintenance for bigger thy have no expertise as i know Toyota Workers if u leave ur car thr on thr hand u will get some problem also as most common is Oil theft. or some other things can also be taken out. So we cannot say that Toyota is bad or market Mechanic is bad both try to Rip u so do that which is in ur favour.

How often should one get the fuel injection system checked or serviced in 2.0D say a four years old vehicle?

alongside all the fluid changes, you should keep a check of the T belt for stretching and adjusting the pump timing (with a dial gauge i.e.) check the valve clearances periodically and adjust with different shims accordingly..

give your injection pump a cleanup treatment, (liqui moly or lucas) whatever rocks your boat.. (check your injector spray pattern if you hear pounding or consistent marbly knocking at revs)

Do replace your T-belt at about 100,000 Kms and its coolant too (never use plain water in a diesel, the shocking/rattling effect of the diesel combustion cycle foams the coolant and cavitates the block and coolant pump too.

    Dear Xulfiqar
Can you kindly elaborate about this clean up treatment that u mentioned?
What is this liqui moly or lucas stuff?
Is it something that is put into the fuel tank?
Does it have any side effects?
    Looking forward to your reply

Those are some special Cleaning or Fuel Treatment Agents its from Liqui Moly, Lucas and STP Available here, but i dont wanna use those things as defintely thy have side effect which can b more devestating.

Need to put into Fuel Tank and they give better Mileage and Cleaning but i think if used then only use once in 6 mOnths or Year.

LOL @ "...use it a little after years so it wont harm"

It won't do any noticeable good either
Better you use it periodically after getting your injection system serviced by a professional or in a new vehicle at reasonable intervals...

Besides keep an eye on the key indicators..use it as soon as you feel it necessary...

the cleanup stuff works good, if you dont overuse it, and not monkey your engine, just remember one thing in driving a diesel, your right foot = heat for the motor, and if its pump is overfuelled it will melt pistons and dislocate precups
