Default Corolla experts please advise about 2010 Xli CNG

    Hello All,
I have been driving mehran till now my knowlege is very limited in big cars.
Recently I have decided to buy a corolla XLi.

I have seen this car in Toyota Rawal motors looks good apparently but when I aksed them about CNG fitting they told me that CNG worked well with previous models but in the current model people are not getting CNG system fitted

could you guys please advise if 2010 XLi has any issues with CNG ?

I would prefer to have economical drive therefore CNG would be preference and thats why I am keen to have it, unfortunately I dont know if this is successfull on these new models,

    Please help..
    thanks,

CNG should work perfectly well. It's just that the new XLi is heavy for a 1.3 Ltr engine. No technical issue.

Thanks mate, Please help resolve another ambiguity I have, I was under the impression that the new XLI is VVTI engine, which perhaps is a new design entirely different from the previous ones and hence its performace with CNG might be a mystery ? any ideas ?

Toyota dealers used to say the samething about the last model when it was launched. I dont think it should create any troubles if everything is done properly. I have heard a lot though about the new 1.3L Xli and Glie being sluggish on petrol. On CNG, performance might go down a lil further.

I heard the same thing that the current models being sluggish from a driver who drove previous models as well. also @ Proverbial_slang indicates these models are heavier for 1.3L engines. I am tending to guess that heavier weight on the same engines is probably causing this...

It would be interesting to hear the the comments of the owners of these cars..

    Sirs

I own a corolla, heavy, underpowered, brakes are pathetic, handling is inferior, city is better, all true.

But still a Corolla wins many hearts.

Do not use CNG for first 3-5 years, petrol average of Corolla is one of the best in local cars.

    Regards

Thanks mate your detailed reply is quite useful, by the way does changing head or manifold requires an engine disassembling ? or is it a simpler process ?
applogy if it sounds stupid, but as I said I havent gone through such experiences before because of having driven only simple car like mehran

also how much does the head costs ?

Don't buy Xli 2010 if you want to run it on CNG.
Mechanics are fed up adjusting CNG on that car.
Its already an underpowered car, its miserable on CNG due to its nonadjustable tappets and electronic throttle. Engine head needs to opened and send to machinist (Khiradia) after 40-50,000 Km.

    salaam to all.

    i hav a corolla 2010 model.
    driving with cng.
now odo reading is about 80 k
    it is doing fine.
tapets were adjusted only once when it was 70 k.
as i know and for the info of other members corolla's engine is DOHC.
so there is no tapet adjustment avaiable like other cars having SOHC engines.
every time when u adjust ur tapets u hav to grind the valve heads to maintain specific clearence between valves and cam shaft.

i'm using CNG on my 2010 GLI.. Giving me good average and there is no adjustment problem. i have driven my car almost 8000 km on CNG and Alhumdulliah its working fine.
As far as tapets problem is concern so heard that it comes after 50k km so i just had driven 8000 km.
But if you use some petrol on your daily drive i guess you can delay tapets jams to 1 lac plus kms.
