Default Corolla XLI 2010 Buying decision - Help required

    Aa guys,

I am about to buy corolla XLI 2010 white, its around 1308 k, but i have heard at the last moment that it has brake issue and underpwer. I dont want to get anyone hurt on the road due to its brakes, therefore i am skeptical now. I need the advice of corrolla owners or ppl who have knowledge about it that shuold i buy the new XLi and how severe is the brake issue.

Other option i have, is to buy a 07/08 GLI at around 11-11.50 lakh. I suppose previous GLi has no brake and underpower issues.

Please help me getting the right decision.

Yet to come across any post of new Corolla Brake issue, but its definetly underpowered especially on 1300 CC with CNG and 5 Adults in the cabin, old Gli have Severe Brake issue, for better Braking Power go for New Gli as it have ABS or move to House of Honda.

Old corolla shape has brake problem it goes for all variants (xli, gli, se saloon, altis, 2.0d, 2.0d saloon).

New corolla XLI(does not have abs) is better then old one in braking thing.

But i would reccomend you get NEW GLI it has abs and good brakes

I dont know about the brakes, but there is another problem that not many people talk about. These days cars have ECU chips, in all variants of the corolla, they are placed openly and if the chip gets wet, it gets damaged, and costs around 50k (not sure about the price). Toyota thus has a sticker in the engine bay saying do not wash the engine. This car basically is not water proof.

Braking is improved in the new XLI thanks to 15" inch rims and tyres.

About the under power thingi i mean you are not going to race this car and for normaly day to day driving you wont feel its under powered.

Only if you are going to Muree with 5 People onboard ON CNG than you will have to switch to petrol :p

But if i had this much money I would have bought the new City :p

if u r not at all concerned with resale, u can have ur hands on city,
else get a used civic or altis.. and for altis spend around 3k on brakes and u wont have brakin issue..

new xli has no brake issue, u can have it, its a good car, with a good resale..
people who use Highbeams.. once day would suffer too bigtime. People who drive slow on fast lanes, remember one day a vehicle carryin ur son, dad might get late to hospital coz people like u. underaged driving will land u in bigtime trouble one day or the other.. And the Blue indication light on ur speedometer denotes "High Beams"

No the problem is in all versions of the Corolla. Previously the chip was behind the dashboard, now its open, unprotected. If this was in America, all Corollas would have been recalle dover this issue. This is a Major flaw.

    @ rao166

I'm the owner of new xli.. well, u feel brake issue wen u go above 120 km/hr otherwise its brakes are way too good as compare to previous model.. mmm to b very honest it is the most sensitive model by toyota i've ever seen like someone above told about the ECU thingie.. if it gets damaged it will cost u arround 80,000 rupees only .. mmm if u wanna race then u'll definately feel that it is an underpowered car else u won't feel it underpowered.. don't ever try to put crook lock in ur car cuz it will damage ur clutch cylinder.. dun ever think to put china lock in the steering, it will brake ur steering all this info is provided to me by toyota dealer.. mmm except all these things car is quiet good, good suspenision, comfort n yeah it has a good resale value etc etc.. honda city is a gud option BUT it knocks alot on premier petrol so u have to run it on HI-OCTANE

@hashamraja , can you explain taht what is this issue over 120 km/h and how much it could be dangerous to passengars of the car. Plus have u converted the car on cng, if yes then whats its performance and mileage per cylinder and whats on petrol.

    Thanks

mmm bro if ur car doesn't have ABS then sudden brakes will lead u to slip and car will go out of ur control.. i m not talkin about xli, all non ABS cars r difficult to stop at higher speed.. mmm well comin to the point of passengers.. xli/gli/ honda city doesnt have air bags so in each case passengers will get injured at higher speeds but as city n gli has ABS brakes so obviously they will stop more quickly and ur car won't go out of control so u can manage urself from a severe accident.. if u drive xli normally then its not that bad car no i havn't converted it to CNG yet.. i've driven it almost 10,200 kms only in isb and pindi.. have never taken it to long route so in local it is giving arround 11kms/litre
