Default Corolla XLI 2010 Buying decision - Help required

    Aa guys,

I am about to buy corolla XLI 2010 white, its around 1308 k, but i have heard at the last moment that it has brake issue and underpwer. I dont want to get anyone hurt on the road due to its brakes, therefore i am skeptical now. I need the advice of corrolla owners or ppl who have knowledge about it that shuold i buy the new XLi and how severe is the brake issue.

Other option i have, is to buy a 07/08 GLI at around 11-11.50 lakh. I suppose previous GLi has no brake and underpower issues.

Please help me getting the right decision.

@hashamraja , bro in the same thread qwertypoiu wrote that all variants of old model including altis have brake issues. If it is true that ALTIS have ABS brakes, then i think i need to search upon this car.

i drove the new corolla xli back then when it was launched, then drove it after a few months n recently i drove it few days ago.3 different cars wid different tyres...nd YES, the braking issue is still there almost as much as it was in the older corolla.so, keep this in mind.

if u dont like the new city, better get urself a new shaped Gli or old shape altis. All these have ABS,hence, brakes r not an issue.

Xli/Gli are underpowered but that doesnt count as u dont want if for racing purpose.if u ARE interested in performance, nothing can get better then the new city.

i think xli/gli would be more economical on fuel...average is better than the 06 eagle eye civic (1.6L engine). similarly i think average would be better than city 2009. but i may be wrong.

@ Porsche_Maker.. hmm yea u r rite but keep on searching u may find a good car.. its difficult to find non cng cars nowadays so u have to sacrifice for this option

@ rao166.. no!! i didn't find brake issue in ALTIS as v had official gli 06 and Altis 07.. believe u me, there's no comparison between these cars.. Altis road grip n brakes are excellent.. now my bro has ALTIS and he's fully satisfied with his car n brakes

@ ahmadbila .. bro i've driven both cars old gli n new xli.. new rolla brakes are far better than previous model.. mm i'll never recommend to buy civic cz its an 4 yr old car n its really difficult to find neat and clean ride.. considering the time fact, toyota suspension wud be much better than honda in 4 yrs

@ Lafafa ... i've heared that city is more economical than xli.. but u know wot previous model ALTIS gives 11 km per litre in local n my new xli gives the same mileage :s dun know whats the reason behind this thing.. Altis is 1800 cc car n xli is 1300 cc but both fuel consumption are same :s

The new gen corolla is definitely a good car and should change opinions of people who previously hated corolla. Mind you I am only talking about GLI and Altis and not XLI

hashamraja, dont know why you are getting the same mileage but I am getting 8.3km/ltr on my altis cruisetronic and 10.8km/ltr on my gli both 2010 models.

well dont know...i have some people who claim they get close to 16km on xli/gli in city driving!! but there is a general perception that it should give somewhere around 11-13km/ltr depending on how you drive and how much traffic you face

but yes...new corolla is definitely a very improved and refined car when compared to the previous corolla.

Actually Xli and Gli wouldnt b able to give very good mileage in normal city driving, for 15~16 km/l u need to drive always Neutral on slopes, and keep speed around 60 and must b in 5th Gear and RPM less thn 2k. Turn Enginee OFF on Signal Lights.

For better looks and Corolla Feel go for Corolla also if you belong and wanna visit Rural areas also. Otherwise for urban Drive and bit delicate touch go for Honda

they had to deliver my Gli before 20.02.10. butt toyota make one good
reason to hold my GLIs delivery after 23rd, using the argument that id nr doesnt mach with NADRAs database,( dosnt exist )
now i am getting a delayed delivery may be 3rd March with the same id which is matching with NADRAs data base NOW, may be with new Toyota prices,

Xli is a nice car if used for daily driving...has efficient fuel system... soft suspension excllent resale...its look is executive then that of the new city..so xli is a good choice should be kept on petrol the things that lack in xli are its brakes dey suck bigtime...better is to add two survey distributers instead of one distributer and the brakes would work far better and equal to ABS and will cost u 3ks
