    I have a gli 2010 on CNG.
Performance is ok, gives around 150km on a cylinder of 60kg.Converted after 25k on petrol.

Friend has a grey manual city 2010, CNG. Converted soon after purchase. He's very happy too. Dont know about average, but i find his city more responsive to throttle than the rolla.

Either way, both cars arent sports cars. Both provide comfortable and pleasant driving, and good performance on CNG.
Go for what ever u like

Corolla has better reputation w.r.t CNG if we take into account the history.but on the other hand corolla 1.8 having vvti engine doesnt proved to be good on CNG

The safer option would be wait till the cng users of new corolla and honda city increases as the time progress

For the time being if u want to buy a car and consider placing cng in it in future then take the risk with corolla not honda
    thanks

the poster hasnt been to this thread even since he made it and you guys are getting mad about it... city is crap rolla is crap etc etc.... even the poster should have enough sense to open the fan clubs of both car or other previous threads about them and look for the info they need.

obviously the car which is faster on petrol will be faster on cng too, expect a 10% decrease in performance when converted to cng. This means that the 100bhp city would be faster then the 85bhp heavier gli.its simple maths, no rocket science... huh...

requesting mods to close the thread.

The common point that all of you are missing here is: GLi costs about 2 Lack more than Honda City and there is nothing tangible you can write which could explain the difference in the price.

If the only point Corolla supporters have is that more Corollas are on the road, so Corolla is better, then the whole debate is over. There is nothing that can be said to this. But looking at the price/features each car offers, we can make our decision much easier. Here it goes again:

Honda City has ABS and factory Power Windows while the price is less than XLi. (Provides two features and does not cost more than Corolla).

Toyota Corolla (1.3L) produces 85 horse power. Honda City on the other hand produces 100 horse power. (1.3L Corolla can never win a race with Honda City).

Toyota Corolla's max fuel-average recorded here by Pakwheels memebers (that I know of) has been around 16 Kpl.

    City's best average was 22.8.

Hence: Produces more power and eats relatively less fuel.

Higher Horse power also implies a better CNG success rate. All the under powered cars fail to provide a satisfactory performance on CNG (Japanese Alto, Pajero Mini etc, all are underpowered and have the worst performance on CNG).

Some people say Corolla is more spacious. The seating capacity for both the cars is 5. However, Honda City's trunk is MUCH more spacious than that of Corolla. The reason is that Honda's Fuel tank is not beneath the trunk, its beneath the front seats so the trunk is much more deeper and spacious than any other Pakistani car.

All the qualities with lesser price and the latest i-vtec. VVT-i was introduced in 1996 (14 years ago). i-vtec is hardly 4 to 5 years old technology..

By the way I already own a Honda City, and today hopefully I'll become the owner of a Toyota GLi too. Then I will be able to give you my very first hand comments on both cars.

This surely was a problem with the previous city, and the previous corolla surely was good on CNG.

The new corolla however is underpowered, and so the new City is much more compatible with CNG as compared to the new corolla. And we do have members (i-e vik_vik) here who have put CNG in Honda City and are getting up to 188 kilometers/cylinder.

Corolla costs more, there is nothing we can do about this. If you want to save money, you'll have to buy XLi, which is still expensive than City. And City would still offer all the great features with price lower than the Toyota's Mehran (XLi).

In our company we have both new city and corolla as well as most of my friends switch to new corolla and city. Beware new corolla cannot run on cng giving head aches due to computerized tuning. my uncle had to remove cng and its computerized rpm control system now needs to be changed for Rs. 12000. ask any dealer they will tell you that last model is in very demand market at Rs. 1 million to Rs. 1.1 million of 2008-09 used corolla xli just because of cng. city giving better gas mileage so no need to put on cng. city giving 12-13 km on day to day karachi city driving (not in rush hours) and corolla giving 11 km. but on highways city is way ahead. forget cng on any corolla regarding city i have no idea but people are saying do not put cng in city as well. also in terms of saving you would be only Rs. 2 per km if you are using cng instead of petrol at rate of Rs. 69 per ltr, city has pick up problems while corolla has very high end torque and is almost near to 1.8 civic so corolla's 1.3 pick up is outstanding even though horse power is 85 in comparison to ctiy's 95. still corolla has excellent resale , 1 year old selling for more than the purchase price whicl city is already 75k to 100 k down.

Rolla XLi rocks... rolla gives almost 80-90% petrol like performance on cg under the conditions of installing landi renvzo genuine italian CNG kit and using synthetic motor oil not less than SL grade and just fine tuning CNG kit which is very easy and regular maintenance .. and its more like diesel engine performance with greater pick and smooth acceleration .. i have experienced all this with my rolla XLI 2005 1300 CC 2NZ-FE engine
