@levin so according to u the indus ppl are takin adavantage of us and giving us a below par product compared to other countries ?. Sir there are so many varities and types in toyota only if they give choice to consumers by introducing different models ppl might have choice but i guess they wont do that until ppl keep on buyin there cars and dont blame them for the problems it has .

@crazy425 bro any car can go fast in a straight line on a motorway no 1's talkin about the speed talkin about the ability of this car to stop which it is lacking. Some reasons skids ,locks up , much higher centre of gravity then the previous model and 1 more thing the car pulls it self towards the left side when u accelerate from a stop (tested in 5 different cars myself ).

    hello!
this topic discussed so many times and my views are same as in all....in conclusion...i find that the brakes are nothing to happens like described here....i know new model corolla here got difficult to stop on high speeds but its all tyres and bit ground clearance issues....levin was right....anywayz...try JDM corolla and check the brakes...Caution...checking brakes can cause seroius injury..not to you bcz you know when to brake but to the person standing beside you ....

@crazy425 bro u agreed with me when u said the old gli i rest my case that was my point the old car was much more stable better handling and all of that made it much more of complete all round car .
@SER_GTR bro when u are buyin a 13 14 lac rs car u are not planing to spend money on changing its brakes all of those things should be factory done , u should be thinkin about if i should get bigger rims or which seat covers to put in the car not o my god i need new brakes.

yaar i think the problem is that the brakes and the suspension dont work in haromony for the pakistani mode....
if they try they can fine tune it...
its all about power to weight ratio...

apart from that the damping also plays an important role in the braking efficiency

    No brakes are not bad

    They are worst

    Civil Engineer sahab

That is not a solution, U buy a car for 1 million and then u have to take it to Peshawar Shobha bazaar to change Discs and dampers. Very wise i must say. Very very wise.

Such profound and deep love for Toyota is the real cause of evil practices and bad quality we get here. We give them full oppurtunity for exploitation. If any other manufacturer came out with a car that bad. i bet people will boyucott it and it will become history. to be exact it will not be "Market kee gaari" but Toyota is surely the apple of everyones eye.

I am even mad today coz i had another incident of corolla braking efficiency.

Get your XLi, drive it and stop asking questions and requiring suggestions please, because u will buy it no matter what i say or anyone else say.

The car looks praegnant, has pathetic brakes, u cannot sit comfortably. its odd to drive but it all doesnt matter because it is a Toyota. You buy it coz all Bureucrats and Chairmen ride it for free, Thats the best of the reasons.

    Iqbal ne sahih kaha hai

Koi soch bhee inn kee apni nahin

    Best of luck.

For those who drive Altis at 180-210 and say that brakes are fine.

THese are not the speeds to check brake performance. You guys must be having some dampers installed in your butt and have hearts and balls of steel coz i dont feel confident to drive an Altis above 90 Km/Hr.The feeling is plain horrible.
Try Emergency braking/Panic stops. Which are everyday occuring nowadays. Thats the real measurement of braking efficiency.

    khan:
the problems you are stating are not very hard to eliminate,, but on the other hand,, new problems will start which toyotaindus tried to address in current models.. so we can go on arguing uselessly about the subject and will get nowhere,, so i suggest we stop here,, because i would like to some things rather than wasting time on corolla brakes.

does it makes sense to you , corolla in developed country is diffirent because people require a diffirent car??.. my friend,, think!

Short version: The braking capabilities of the Altis are excellent.

One caveat: I cannot comment on the braking capabilities of an Altis with stock rims and tires as I had these changed within an hour of taking delivery. The suspension and brakes are, however, stock.

Long version: I have extensively driven the 2005 Civic Vti (manual and prosmatec) and in my opinion the braking capabilities of the Altis cannot be distinguished from those of the Civic. Braking at high speeds, low/medium speeds, while changing lanes, while entering exits/turn-offs are all excellent. To address some specific complaints I have come across on this forum, the braking of the Altis in everyday emergency situations is excellent. I have, on a few occassions, had to emergency brake and the ABS responded immediately and effectively. The brake pedal has shuddered slightly on such occasions but that is apparently a normal feature of ABS. My Altis does not veer off to the left or right during sudden acceleration or deceleration. I have done a number of 0-100/150 and 0-100-0 runs and the handling of the car has been excellent. I hope this clarifies matters somewhat, at least in respect of the Altis.

On a more general note, you may want to take a look at the Altis review I had penned a while back:
