    Default Engine Swap in my Corolla 98...

    Finally got rid from 2E & swapped 5EFE in my corolla 98.. However, I was considering it a risk as i have no knowledge of engines & stuff. but after getting some reviews at PW & get some knowledge about Toyota E & A series engines from the internet.. I took the decision, & I must say it is a good decision.

    Location: Peshawar
    Engine Purchased & swaped at Shoba bazar
    Old 2E was sold to the same person who swapped the new 5EFE
    It takes about 6 hours to get the car ready..One day khwari

    Comments & suggestions are welcome

    @murtazee! Bro its a 5 speed gearbox, Yes felt much difference, it is way better then 2E, good mileage (its EFI), excellent pickup..I am not a speed freak nor i pushed the accelerator much.. A day before i was traveling on motorway & it was easily touching 120 (at 3 RPM)..

    @Vaqas1!

    Yes i got it much cheaper then the market price. this is only due to my friend who knows the shopkeeper.

    Yes in Peshawar they didn't give much time to guarantee about the engine.. but my case is different! I was allowed a month the check it..

    Note sure about the clutch plate but its not giving any issue so far.. & I believe its better then the new local market one..

    I was looking for good engine since a month. after contacting shoba a couple of times before. the shopkeepers told me that since pak-afghan border (torkham) is closed, all good engines are sold out & only few engines left in the market which is available at high rates. I told the guy (in shoba) to update me on phone whenever border is opened & fresh engines arrived. & this is what i got after 1 month.

    oh for the love of God yes
    brother me 2 am suffering from the fever of 2e
    I am also planing for a swap in my car to there was a guy who said i will get you a good engine from afganistan (torkham) but the day they where to bring new engines the border was closed he said the security is so tight that not even a blank of soap can pass threw

    so i was stuck with my 2e
    my question are simple
    1.When was the swap done
    2.how much did your old 2e was sold for
    3.Did you change any other thing for example (axles,hubs,shockes,fuel lines,etc) or was it a engine off engine in setup
    4.And personally wht do you think should i swap or should i overhule engine rebuilt like should i increse the size or the cylinder bigger pistons
    i want your personal opinon from a brother to brother

    Engine Swap in my Corolla 98 -102063

    The mechanic told me to get grease, power oil, gear oil & engine oil..He also told me that you will need to change the engine oil after 50 Km running.

    For engine oil! I ended up choosing Petromin ultra 7, this is the one from smuggled channel. But original..I tried it for the first time & find its quality very good. Interestingly, It is way cheaper then the one offered Here .

    They said we are taking it for 30,000 (including gearbox). it was in perfect running condition..

    I changed nothing.. everything was the same..including the old AC compressor which i don't allow them remove because of extra GAS cost if removed & install the other one.

    If you are getting a good engine at reasonable price then go for a swap. In pindi there is alot of people to fool you by selling weak engines at higher price. try getting the engine from a trusted person. This engine got good power. & more economical then 2E..

    congratulations on the swap, the 6-speed must be awesome in that chassis. also the price you paid is very reasonable. these guys seem to know what they are doing and it's very interesting that they did the entire swap in just a few hours.

    As for the oil, smuggled oil does not include 17% GST so it will be cheaper than the official import. However by buying this oil you are promoting these guys to continue smuggling which in turn will ruin my business. Do note that there is no guarnatee that the oil in the can really is pure ultra7 and we cannot be held responsible for what it does to the inside of your engine. however, i hope it's the real stuff and you enjoy the properties of Ultra7,.. i want our people to have a good product, legal or smuggled.

    I agree! But did buying a single cane of oil make any difference to curb smuggled oils in the market or something to do with ruining your business? At first i was reluctant to buy this oil from unauthoried seller/Dealer. but since i have to drain it after 50 km of running & it was available super cheap, I choose it. but after using it, i found it good.

    After draining at 50km, I was convinced to use it again but since it was not available at the lube shop where i usually changed oil. so i stick with zic..

    One has to inform the engine code to excise department, they definitely change the code in book.

    And that definitely decrease the resale of car, even if it has a better engine then stock (surprising).
    yes but i have seen ppl do is weld the old engine number to the new engine.

    @KKNIAZI

    Sir we should not get personal, he is telling the right thing and he has the guts to tell the truth, he has only did that once and he is responsible for his own acts and money to spent.

    Many of us do not pay taxes, violate rules, do piracy, excess profitering, do not follow basic ethics or morals and still get away with that as long as no one knows.

    @ZEBNO<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_2292909", true); </SCRIPT>

    Sir that 6 speed manual is working fine with engine? I thought it came with 4A GE 20V, the ratios are fine?

    Why did not you opted for 4E FE or 4A fe, what was the price of those?

    Can you give me the number of your mechanic who swapped engine, have you seen any A16A, B18A, D15b or 2nz fe or 3zz fe?

    Regards

    No offense but I must say Maturity is not age bound.. i have seen many immature seniors & mature juniors in many occasions

    Bro buying smuggled oil has nothing to do with doing something illegal as it is the seller who is responsible for what he is doing. Lets say if he sells the same oil at market rate then no one can figure out this is smuggled or not.. while buying engine oil have you ever asked the seller to show their NTN no ? shipment clearance details? or selling authorization ??

    On the other hand, changing the engine no in swapped engine is a different issue. & the proper way is to change it in registration documents..
