Dear while choosing Diesel engine oil first of all once have a look a API ENGINE OIL GUIDE. According to API oil guide all diesel engine oil has the grading starts with Letter C , and at this time the most advance Diesel engine oil grading is CI-4 , In Pakistan , So when ever choosing Diesel engine oil you choose only CI-4 , grade oil and i recommend you ZIC DIESEL ENGINE OIL ZIC 5000 , API CI-4, SAE 10W40, more over it is synthetic engine oil and has strongest Hydro carbon molecular structure avilible in Pakistan Lubricants Market.

    ZIC 5000
    (SYNTHETIC FORMULA)

ZIC 5000 is the Synthetic engine oil of API CI-4/SL performance, made of synthetic base oil with YUBASE Technology. Therefore, ZIC 5000 exceeds the performance of any other engine oils containing conventional base oil.

Well I am confused, whats the difference between "Synthetic" and "synthetic Formula".

As far as I know, the synthetic formula are the semi-synthetics although ZIC call them synthetic as well obviously to fool the customers.

If you look at the viscosity, which I just checked at the ZIC website, which is showing difference of about 10 centistroke between Zic UP and ZIC 5000, which does for a same grading oil means different oil base.

And, for arguments sake, if we believe that it is synthetic, how can you recommend a synthetic oil to a guy without asking him how old is your car and which oil has been used previously?

It could be a 20 years old engine who had only breathed mineral oil all its life.

    Btw, whats YUBASE technology?

    Cheers,
    Kaleem

Just pour regular mineral based oil with high detergents in it - and ALWAYS use a branded filter. My diesel VW always sees genuine

    MANN
    Donaldson
    Fleetguard
    Crosland

They work hard to keep the oil clean - capturing junk. Of all the so called genuine Toyota filters Ive seen in Pakistan they cant clean worth jack - Either they are fake, expired or some other snake oil.

When in Karachi, my diesel runs for 5000 kms before any oil change, the oil comes out with suspended particles in it (nice) - and its always super super happy to carry me anywhere I wish - when I work on it (rarely - because its a rock solid VW design) the engine is always clean with no sludge or buildup - and my oil pressure at idle is about 20 psi minimum with coolant temps at 92 degrees and oil temperature at about 100 degrees.

The filter is a little pricey but not more pricey than a busted crank or busted oil pump

synthetic engine oils might be good, well i use them in my 1.6 lancer. but i tried zic synthetic diesel in my 160k km driven diesel engine, and since than the oil pump has decreased its pressure, the oil light stays for quiet some time after starting. adn this was doen in less than 1k km, i changed back to mineral.

anyway my point is that is it beneficial to use synthetic oil in old engines? this is still controversial, and i experienced it first hand, so i wont recommend any one to use synthetic in their old cars... the logic behind this well its discussed many times over here....

my recommendation, go for plain mineral, make sure you get the original one. our diesel engines are so old that they dont need exotic ratings of todays's oils. check your owner manual, see what api and sae rating is needed for out climate and pour in.
its all about power to weight ratio...

    @ Kaleem

First of all i assure you that their is no any differance between Synthetic and synthetic formula
Secondly i just tried to anwser about the best engine oil available in Pakistan and i assure you that ZIC 5000 , API CI-4, SAE 10W40 is the best engine oil for diesel engines. More over i did not mentioned to pour it in all kind of diesel engine because for oil grade recommendation there are so many things which have to be keep in considration like mechanical condition , driving condtions , fuel quality , OEM recommendations etc..
Lastly for synthetic engine oil i would like to add here that all oil produced from API GROUP III are synthetic oils and above it all ZIC ENGINE OILS are being produced from YUBASE which is best part of API GROUP III and for more information about YUBASE visit www.yubase.com

    Thanks

    @Umair

For the 2C Engine its better u stick till API CH4 Specification as 2C is very old Diesel engine, in Pakistan mostly people using the Delo Gold, but you can Use Toyota's Desron as these i have checked and currently going with Toyota, but about a member of PW @ Storm have presented the Petromin Engine Oils i heard some good news about it her but not tried as mostly people are having the Gasoline Engine Cars and some have Diesel Cars so about 2C in his thread i asked but still no response of that.

Whats current condition of your enigne and which brand you are using, as always use Genuine Filters and regular Drain INtervals can enhance your Engine Performance and durability.

Atleast you should have the spine to stand on what you say to others.
That poor soul, or any other for that matter, wouldn't give a LOTA to which brand is the BEST in the CUCKOO's NEST, what they would certainly care about is which brand or grade of oil is the BEST for their car so recommend that. It may be ZIC 5K but first you should ask him certain question which is expected from you 'cause you are not some Tom, Dick (you are acting one like though) and Harry but the rep. of some BLA BLA company who owns SHYTE SHYTE technology. I hope I've made myself LOUD n CLEAR.

First of all i assure you that their is no any differance between Synthetic and synthetic formula
I assure you that there is a difference between Synthetic and Synthetic Formula and you dont but SK oil is aware of its legal implications thats why they are using the word 'Synthetic formula'.

    @all,

Most (read all) of the synthetic oils are based on mineral oils which means feestock used in their preparation is either a high wax crude oil or Low sulphur waxy residues (LSWR) so if you are under the impression that synthetic oils are churned out by some laboratory artificially then wash it off that impression, it isnt.

Dear you are taking it personal and i appriciate your observation too.
secondly it is open forum and every one has right to express its own way
if you dont like any product you don't have the right to do negative things against it .
Lastly i assure you that ZIC 5000 , API CI-4 , SAE 10W40 has the the ability to withstand at any mechanical , weather , fuel etc.. condition with out any problem to engine because it is the first SYNTHETIC OIL AVILIBLE IN PAKISTAN .

i beg your pardan if you don't like ZIC, OR any comments
