Default My 93' Corolla From New Zealand (AE100 JDM)

    Hey guys,

This is my 1993 Toyota Corolla SE Limited. It's a Japanese import and has all of the features you would expect out of Japan, except it's now a little different from a bog standard grocery getter

It was completely standard when I bought it, but I've done a number of mods to it over the last 5-years of ownership so far, including a 4A-GE 20v Blacktop swap at the end of 2012. I've almost reached my goal of finding every single optional extra that was available from new, including some of the rarest items, such as the AirFantasy fragrance control system.

This first post will remain updated with all of the current modifications and photos. To view updates in chronological order please scroll through the various posts below this one.

Yes, not so many upgrades lately unfortunately. I recently found out that I'm going to be a father, so have been a bit preoccupied

Here is my latest addition however - A rare OEM JDM Clean Box (optional extra). Been looking for one of these for a long time (particularly one that's plum in colour) so it's good to finally have one:

Thank you bro. Expect to see a baby seat and a 'baby on board' sign in the rear windscreen in the near future

Thanks. I agree about the 20v and the coilovers

Here's one more optional extra worth mentioning - A rare OEM JDM insert which converts the ashtray to a coin holder/small storage compartment. It's lined with felt to prevent anything from rattling around and is perfectly shaped for the ashtray:

Thanks bro. DSLR = digital (SD card) whereas SLR = film, although when most people say SLR these days they're talking about DSLRs. Did you do any further thinking about the Canon 600D?

Great Shots, you know you are good at taking the pictures, well i will visit again the store, when the last time i visited the saw both the 550D and the 600D the store girl showed me another camera in which you didn't needed to focus the lens maunaully with the hand,it had the zoom in zoom out button just like the ordinary camera's we use on the functions,i can't decide which one should i go for,as i would be all new to this machine so i wouldn't be knowing how to adjust the lense manually with the hand and i guess its pretty boring too,but the one which the button,we can't use the bigger lense on it as it has an optical zoom lense.so one advantage and one disadvantage and yeaa, one more thing,i won't be needing bigger lenses because i won't be takign the pictures far from the object as i will use it for family gatherings officla functions and for some personal stuff as well you know like you taking detailing everything of its car with a photo.

Thanks bro. I would personally go with the one where you manually zoom the lens with your hand, as this is a much quicker and more effective way to take photos. If you get one with digital zoom then you may miss out on the shot you're trying to take due to the delay of the zoom. This is why all of the top level DSLR's use manual zoom. It's extremely simple to adjust the zoom by hand, all you have to do is twist the lens and you'll see it zooming in and out through the viewfinder. You can also get the zoom MUCH more precise than a camera that's equipped with a digital zoom. Honestly bro, you won't regret it

As for the interchangeable lenses, you may not think you'll need a bigger one now, but trust me, they come in very useful. Most Canon DSLR kits these days have the option of being bought as a twin lens kit, where you get a standard lens (usually 18-55mm) and a telephoto lens (usually a 75-300mm lens). The telephoto lens is perfect for taking photos of butterflies and flowers etc, or even if you want to take a detailed shot of the front of your car. It doesn't just have to be for long distance shots, although it does come in handy for those too. So in my opinion, go for a twin lens kit, in either the 550D or the 600D.

^ Thank you very much my friend.

My latest addition - A rare OEM (optional extra) under-seat tray. It has a bracket which gets mounted underneath the passenger's seat (screw holes were already there) and allows you to store various items, such as tools, a first aid kit, map books, hand wipes, cleaning cloths etc. It could also come in useful if you're wanting to hide your GPS, radar detector, stereo face-plate etc when leaving the vehicle unoccupied. First one I've ever come across and I got it for a steal . Was hard to take photos of it, but here it is:
