To run a flash/hardisk Mp3 player in your car you have to have a cassette player. Actually there are two ways.

    1) Play a Cd in a MP3 CD player.
    2) Play MP3 harddisk player via cassette.

    Option 1:
You will have to buy an mp3 CD player for your car which will cost you around 6000~7000 basic. But then there is the problem of changing and buying new CDs.

    Option 2:
Harddisk MP3 players contain hundreds or even thousands of songs that you can save in them from your PC. You dont have to spend more time and money to have more songs. Just plug it to your computer and add or remove files. For this you need a cassete adaptor.

but cassette adaptor has some noise,,as signal is transformed from digital to analog, compared to direct digital sound.

no it does not have that much noise. it is much much better then an old cassette and a scratched CD. I have been using it for some time now and it is very good.

in a city like Karachi where you dont want to leave valueable things in your car a portable Mp3 player has the advantage over a fixed expensive deck.

i hear you.. well i got used to dbx encoded music on tapes.. recorded from friends cds.. when i didnt had a pc in 80's. even a panasonic dbx car cassette player (jdm model) in pakistan giving more then 90 dB signal to noise ratio and dynamic range of 110 dB.!

when i compared it to cassette adaptor i had in late 80's connected to sony discman fitted on car dash..cassette adaptor didnt match the performance of dolby C leave aside dbx.
so i decided to buy a mp3/cd player now. black sony you see in my car.

you can imagine the difference of quality in an 80s adaptor and sony discman and a latest one. i havent heard a dbx cassette player sound so i cannot judge the difference. But i know that the new gadgets are excellent.

well. dbx was a professional studio standard noise reduction systion and dynamic range expander of 70's ,, system got cheaper in 80's was installed in home use high end casstte decks. after digital studio recording gear most analog studio recorders were changed by digital recorders.. dbx does exceed the limitations of the cd qaulity when signal encoded/decoded via dbx recorded on open reel tape or high end metal cassette.. eg: TDK MA-XG
