    Unhappy Toyota corolla gli 2010

Assalam u Alaikum ... I have got a corolla gli 2010 .. The drive is not good .. i also own a honda city 2002 and it drives better than the new toyota .. the fact of the matter is this that when you engage the corolla in a gear and even slowly leave the clutch just as the car is about to set in motion the rpm drops from 1000 to less than 500 which as a result ends in giving the car extra race and a lot of noise .. this makes the ride very uncomfortable as every time you engage the car in a gear after stopping the motion completely breaks and while reengaging in gear the rpm drops instead of incresing ... Is there any way to solve this bcz when i took the car to the corolla ppl they said that this model has an electronic sensor throttle and this is the way this car is supposed to drive ... ? ... :O ..
Can somebody plz help me out ... ? .. Thanks

That's not a problem. It's the Drive by Wire Throttle control.. You'll get used to it..

Is it the justification that DRIVE BY WIRE by virtue of its working mechanism makes your ride uncomfortable.

I suppose new City is also coming with DBW technology but I have never faced that issue. Infact when you drive manual, it gets pretty excited on higher RPM.

I bought my GLi in June 2010. The salesman at Toyota Garden Motors asked me to always shift to first gear while crossing a speed breaker. I brought my car to Islamabad, and the Vehicle Advisor said the same thing.

The card does have some issues in its drive in first and second gears.

Hey guys I'm in too. ... Anyone got a solution to the dancing rpm yet ? ... I thought the battery must be a issue but I changed didn't help. . . Can it be a faulty alternator ?

I tried some physics and checked the voltage ground on the engine bay while giving it a load there was a decrease in minute volts. But the same thing was happening while checking the voltage on the battery same thing happened less volts.

So in order to come to a conclusion guess what keep your car off and beem the lights see the fluctuation in the dome lights or try it with the indicators on dome light also blinks. Any one facing this too ?

Btw I have get the throttle body serviced professionally the problem got a bit ok but after a few kms the same thing happens my car is 25k driven only.

Waiting for a solution with you all.

Default rpm dropping on cluth depressing in 1st and 2nd gear

even im going through the same problem. the ride feels underpowered in the initial gears.when i press the clutch to set the car in motion and if im a bit careless with the throttle press the rpm drops to 600 700 and then jumps back to normal.in motion the car responds fine.this rpm drop is experienced alot when im stuck in trafic jams, and this makes the drive very uncomfortable.but some time the response is great and I dont encounter any rpm drops. in idle position the rpm remains stable at 900.
Iv e got it checked by number of mechanics and they say the vehicle is perfectly fine.
Now most of the times i keep a watch on the rpm meter rather then on the road. even while reversing when i cannot press the throttle pedal the car moves but vibrates also.

I also feel a slight jerk when shifting gears.
my clutch plates is absolutely fine. so i dont know why i feel this jerk.

I am facing a similar issue in my gli 2010. The headlights seem to flicker when indicators are flashing. Showed it to the electrician. He said its alternator is not charging properly. Changed alternator but same result. Showed it to another electrician he said its battery problem. Charging is around 13 volts i guess. @manofpk has a similar issue i think. Has anybody gotten it solved yet?

The problem you discussed can be due to the following two reasons:
    - The Tires may be bigger than the recommended size.
    - The Oxygen sensor (upstream) may be at fault.
To verify the Oxygen sensor just remove the sensor connector (4 pin), drive the car with sensor connector removed. If the performance increases, replace the sensor, otherwise reconnect the sensor. Be sure that you remove the key from Ignition switch, remove the battery -ive terminal for 5 Sec or more to delete the error code.
If the problem persists get the car be inspected by a service Personnel.

Aoa PW Fellows, I experience the same issue with my 1.3 2010 Xli during my first visit at Toyota Walton Motors 3S Lahore the car got scanned because ECL appears when I shift 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th gear, The car all of sudden drops the acceleration so keeping it short as we all know which issue we are discussing here. My car was on CNG before but mostly driven on petrol, during my first visit, I change the plugs, clean throttle body. After few days the same problem appears again, I visit 3S again and uninstall the CNG completely from my car. This time I got rude with 3S manager and asked him how many times I have to comeback with the same issue, Are you guys not trained enough to provide a solution. Than they have checked and removed the O2 sensor and replaced with a new one. This time it worked. In case if anyone else follow the same string of solution, Don't waste your TIME and money on anything else just check the O2 sensor. The last solution which 3S suggested in case if the O2 thing didn't work as they know I am on my toes to resolve this issue, They said the complete wiring of the car should to be replaced as a final solution but thanks replacing the O2 (Oxygen Sensor) worked for my car, Now it's more smooth than any other car no matters if I drive within the city or on long routes it gives me same joy as my old 2007 Corolla GLI. I hope this helps our PW community members.
