i am amazed to see the car with 1.4 million price and without power windows. Pakistani car manufacturers should be hanged and import of used cars should be allowed openly.

^^ There isn't any confirmation of 2.0L engine. According to Sales team, No Switchtronic in 1.6L variants, that means Altis included.

@arslan_malik123.....We wish to have TPMS and Parking sensors too

if 1.6 gli coming then 1.6L altis sounds stupid..atleast 1.8 will help with auto....

but then again going back to old 1.8 why not 2.0

    so possibilities are there

and 1 thing for sure...altis will get good new stuff ..

i went to Toyota Islamabad Motors too.

my observations and learning with the face lift model are the following:

rear bumper size has increased from the sides.
    lights' smaller
    the better reflectors
    elongated garnish

    dark gray interior replacing brown
ECO metre telling how much one can travel in reserve tank
changed decks for the Xli and Gli. both have usb and aux jacks which are much more beautiful
somehow i felt the A/C knobs have changed to gray but since none ov the representatives mentioned, i can't claim myself to be 102% correct.

    point headlights
therefore bumper shape from there has changed too
    trapezium shaped fog lamp place
    larger grill
larger place below the number plate.

    engine is the same.

if booked early, delivery will be next month else June as printed on the price lists.

as mentioned by the guy in Peshawar, Rs. 40000 premium is charged for the two cars i.e. Black Xli and Olive Green Gli only parked on display. else price is Rs. 1529000.

    the 1.6 will have:

    dual vvti
    better fabric
a changed meter in blue color
five spoke alloy rims as opposed to the current ten

and maybe some other stuff i've forgotten.

this MIGHT be on display on the 20th of APRIL else definitely between the 20th and 10th ov May.

Price tag will begin from Rs. 1.7 or 1.75 million and extend upto Rs. 1.9 m for the top ov the line variant.

there was no mention ov new colors in the lists at least. just may be they will be exclusively for the 1.6l like there was one only in the previous SHAPE Altis.

    ^ which one?
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

+1. I posted earlier as well...
    • Altis 1.6 is coming first...May 9th (or 10th) with 1.8 like price tags (may be 40k-50k more; i-e entry level Altis will have close to 17.50 price tag); only Altis will have dual VVTI (1ZRFE) engine..this is confirmed
    • 1.6 GLI/SE with Auto Transmission is coming afterwords with price tag around 16.50 and it will not have dual VVTI; will not have any Altis niche features like SRS, rims, Cruisetronic, wood panels etc and its not coming before or with Altis. Its expected in June (or may be after budget with revised/even more higher price tag )
    • Altis 2.0 is not coming; not in near future. For that Indus will have to revise the suspension and braking of Altis which they might not want as they will like to keep things common from 1.3L XLI to Altis and if they setup two assembly lines it will further raise its price tag and noone will buy such thing having 2 million price tag of entry level 2L model. Higher engine Corolla will never succeed and technically not possible unless they drop 1.3L XLI/GLI and replace it with some other product (Belta or Etios from Bharat Toyota etc)
Indus Toyota strategy with Corolla Altis is keeping engine size small and adding more features; btw they still have missed Immobilizer (correct me if it exists in Altis)...Atlas Honda strategy for this market with Civic is having latest engine and dropping niche features that exists in international market. For instance they didnt introduced EPS, Cruisecontrol, Audio Controls on Steering, Electronic Sunroof or Paddle-shift gearbox that even exists in Indian Automatic Civic. Next gen Civic in Pakistan is going to have 2.0L engine with Cruisecontrol (a friend who works in Atlas mentioned this once) and its not coming this year for sure.

1.6 GLI/SE with Auto Transmission is coming afterwords with price tag around 16.50 and it will not have dual VVTI
But Khuziz don't you think giving two 1.6L engines will also increase the cost of production of the car? And that will mean increase in prices.

It sounds more logical to me that Indus will keep the same engine (Dual VVT-i, 1ZR-FE) for all the variants of 1.6L Corolla (Altis, GLi/SE) and for the GLi/SE they might not give cruise control or tiptronic transmission etc.

    What say you?

The exact words from the source "1.6GLI dual VVTI nahi ho gi". I asked direct question about this. I think 1.6GLI/SE will have 3ZZFE; Indus and their dealer engineers have exposure to ZZ (1.8Altis was 1ZZFE) and Thai Toyota on which Indus rely for their supply is also offering 3ZZFE based 1.6 model. I guess this ZZ thing works better with CNG comparing to ZR as Thai Toyota's CNG variants are all ZZ based.

Here are engine graphs from Thai Toyota

New corolla 2011 pictures and information -225943

The outgoing 1.8 Altis has 1ZZ-FE (89kW, 165Nm), there are only two possibilities that they have not picked 1.8L 2ZR-FE. (a) It increases cost or (b) the car structure Indus is making is not able to handle > 90kW / 170Nm. Whatever is true; if 1.8L Altis was not feasible, 2.0L Altis is definitely not on the table.

i think its (a) Cost increase

because all this Localization is Bull
every major part including Chassis and suspension is imported so it cant be some cheap local maal

Well in that case I really can't say anything. Although the 3ZZ-FE is a great engine for CNG (Toyota Thailand offer FF CNG for that engine). What about the transmission then? Manual + automatic or just automatic?

And is there any plan by Indus to offer FF CNG in the 1.6 GLi then?

    • 1.6 GLI/SE will only be Automatic; and it will not be Cruisetronic/Triptronic etc
    • No update on FF CNG in Corolla. Even if they do, I think they will start with XLI and GLI (Manual cars works better on CNG)

BTW, i just checked the Toyota Thailand website. It says the manual FF CNG Corolla comes with a dual VVT-i 3ZZ-FE engine. While the automatic FF CNG Corolla comes with single VVT-i 3ZZ-FE engine.
