Default Corolla Altis VVTi 1.8 Feedback Please

    Hello everybody,

Being a lover of fast cars, I am considering to buy an Altis. I recently purchased my new XLi but am not satisfied with it's pickup.

I know that Altis is not as fast item as Saloon or GLi/XLi but would like to know about:

    1. Its pickup ... acceleration
    2. Braking
    3. Handling, specially above 120 KM/Hr
    4. Suspension response on bumpy roads (I have found that the suspension of my XLi is not that superior and seems to be transferring the jerks on to the person onboard).

Any feedback in this regard based on live experience would be highly appreciated!

    Regards.
    .

    hello!
he says Item..means from selling point of view yaar...he knows that 1.8L is more faster than 1.6L definately...
    anywayz
    1. Pickup is awsome....what you can expect from 135Hp motor...definately awsoome...
    2. Braking is improved...equipped with ABS 4 WHeel Discs..
3.Can't say about handling...but i know that toyota is nominal and better in handling...Ground Clearance was bit High but Mcpherson's Suspension does it job...it will be good in handling...
4.McPherson as all new cars uses....not so much stiff nor much softer...i think the bumps on roads of karachi are not bumps boss...they are much bigger in dia and their design hardly let you to go without any feeling......road conditions are worse here but i think its made luxurious so it will have some strong suspension....Indus Toyota's suspension is stronger among all local manufacturers..
i won't have live experiences with altis but i prefer it is a good buy......b/w
Toyota JDM is another story.....Toyota Premio and Corolla Assita X is much much better than local Corolla's...i prefer them on local ones.....from them you get max results what Toyota is actually all about...
    Thanxx

SER_GRT and everyone thanks a lot for you replies. And yes, I really meant a slow item from sale point of view by saying its not a fast item.

C123pk, thanks for the suggestion, I would love to ride an RX7 or RX8 but as you know such cars can only be kept as second cars, you can't send them to pickup kids from schools or your wife for shopping. Would really have a full fledged sports car whenever my pockets will allow me to do so.

    Kind regards

umarbangash I don't think that Altis is a flop car. It is a car designed for specific class of people, for those with sporty taste and deeper pockets.

Among 100 buyers of Corolla, I think people who buy Altis are only 10-15. The reason being, not everyone like fast cars and fuel consumption is one of the biggest concerns people have now a days due to high fuel prices.

Although, Toyota says that it is fast as well as ECONOMICAL car with VVTI engine, which works like an ordinary car at low RPMs and become a mustang at higher RPMs.

May be people have the concept that 1.8 Altis would require great amount of fuel.

Can anyone tell me the fuel average of Corolla Altis?

    Regards.

    FXGenius:

You may want to check out the review of the Altis at the following link:

    https://www.pakwheels.com/forumreply_az_TopicID!11523~ForumID!1~pw.html

Will be happy to answer any questions you may still have after reading the above.

The fuel consumption after 2500 kms is coming in at around 10.5km/ltr, but that is with the A/c only being used half the time.

I think people are afraid from the engine displacement(cc) of the ALTIS.
TOYOTA ALTIS lacks sunroof, alloy with bridgstone tyres, passengers air bags.

    GLI:

Haven't really pushed the car to its top speed. I can vouch for its acceleration, which is tops when compared to that of any other locally assembled sedan (in stock cars, anything less than a Merc C/E-200 or a BMW 3.20 (or their equivalent) just isn't worth racing against); it did 160 between traffic lights on Constitution Avenue without breaking a sweat and with miles to spare.

As regards your concerns, you haven't set them out, so I can't allay them! If you want, you can share the issues you have and maybe I can address them and help you make a more informed decision.
