Default Corolla 2005 Air Filter Partially Burnt out

Air Filter (Toyota original) was found partially burnt out from the side which nears to throttle body after using 3000 km. I was forced to change it because the guys at Toyota told me so.
When I asked about the reason why the air filter burnt, I was told that there might be problem in the throttle body. To clarify, I already had gotten it checked and it was declared clean and ok by three mechanics.

Now I wanna know the real reason and request you all to help me out to sort out this problem. Thanks

is it running on CNG or petrol...if its CNG then a backfire would have caused it.

^^ Fluctuation is caused by the bad air filter i guess. But burning out air filter at just 3k mileage is way too early even if it is causing backfires. I have a wild guess that u may be using a poor quality air filter and this time from toyota shop wala air filter may give u a better result. Have a constant check on it after every 500kms.

I have same 05 and I tell you my experience. I installed CNG three years later i.e in 2008 and never had any backfire problem. But when I was giving driving lessons to my wife a couple of months ago, I heard the backfire as you know the new learner stalls the car often when moving from first gear. I immediately opened the air cleaner element box and saw the burning on the throttle body side. It was a new air filter. I always keep an extra air and oil filter at home so immediately swapped it and switched my car on petrol for the driving lessons and since then no problem. I have no backfire problem when I drive and hope that once she practice more and is able to deal with clutch release she can too drive on CNG.
Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.
