Default Suggestion needed for the selection of 4A or 5A Engine for Corolla

Dear Users SALAM. As you can see I am new user over here and needs some professional advice about engine selection for my car.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
I am having Corolla 1993 Japanese original diesel (CE 100). It drive really well but due to current hike in diesel prices day by day I am intended to convert my original diesel car to Petrol (and later to CNG) unfortunately, and would therefore need advice from you guys as to which engine would the best option.<o:p></o:p>
Though I did some search about petrol EFI engines as there are 4A FE (1600 CC) and 5A FE (1500 CC) are available in market. Further I believe in those model of corolla both 4A and 5A were imported by <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1:place>Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region> to different countries. So not sure entirely as to which one should be preferred. Kindly anyone feed back with professional advice please soon as possible. Thanks<o:p></o:p>

did the same thing with my Japanese diesel corolla with 5afe later my frnd swapped 4afe in pkdm corolla 2000 model... pick wise one can not tell that which one is fast if he doesn't know in car its 4afe or 5afe.. same acceleration in short..
as far as consumption is concerned mine 5afe is giving me 135 in Lahore city driving. and his 100-110 max.. so i dont knw if there is some other thing which gives different millage but CNG was fitted by same person on both rides so same settings....
other advantage would be of 5afe would be that its only came in Japanese corolla pkdm never used 1.5ltr they've used 4afe all the time..so the 4afe u'll buy might be of used pkdm 1.6gli....chances are there for used 5afe too but very less chances... but both are equally good

thnx Irfan brother for ur detail info. just one more thing to ask what about the 5A FHE engine (also called as EFI-S). how its differ from 5A FE engine? I have searched for there photos online but both of them excatly look the same, except it says that 5A FHE having a bit of more HP as compared to 5A FE. How can I know if the engine I am going to buy is 5A FE or "5A FHE", I mean the physical difference in there make. thnx

5afe 4afe 5efe 4efe 7afe are all almost same in looks so all u need to do is read the model number embossed on the engine...
bro if u luckily find 5afhe there would be questions about its condition coz it a rare find and if u want more hps than go for 4afe but i tell u again its hardly noticeable better go for 5afe... if u want pick = speed than go for 7afe same family but 1.8..
bro m using 5afe on CNG n blv me its acceleration is more than enough for city traffic plus its consumption is great too so go for it...

Hey, m thinking to swap a new engine in my AE101!!
But I just can't seem to get it!
    Will a 4efte be better or 4age 20v BlackTop!!
Which one has got more power, and engine lifetime!
I'm asking about da engine life because most engines die when they are fitted with aftermarket parts!
Also, which tranny would suit best for these engines n how much would the tranny n engines cost?
    Awaiting ur reply eagerly!

salam again and thnx for sharing useful info. well I have inquired for 5A FE in Peshawar market, its costs about 65000. they r really best engines. 5A FE are reliable as compared to 4A FE. although further there r 20 valve twin cam 4A exists but no one recomand it bcz of its parts non-availability and the car will be then mostly parked with mechanic rather on the road.
5A FHE are for no doubt best engines but they r very difficult to find in market. now its been since last 2 days my mechanic is searching for the best condition engine of 5A FE but so far no succeeded in finding one. hopefully will get one soon and then will post its photo over here too to for ur comments. thnx

BT being N/A should have longer life span and has more hp (considering u find a good piece)

what in the world made u say 4afe is not reliable even if compared with 5afe?

Brother 5EFE is best if low cost 5AFE is best.

7AFE is fuel thirsty and 4AGE is out of equation unless you have plans for some weekend street racing with your friends.

I m using 7afe in terms of economy its as good as 4a or 5a but it has sweet torque much much better than other two. But yes it has oil burning issue. Newer series with coils fixed this issue. This is mainly due to stuck oil ring or bad valve seals.
