Bhai, I think the philosophy behind the car is more important the car itself

It does not matter if we have Gli or any other vehicle, the point is that we should take more care of our rides.

Love your car, and it will love you back ... that is what I am trying to emphasize.

You are right he is too much involved and as a grownup man I am sure he is not just taking care of his corolla but other family/social matters too. There are for sure few things which are over done; he is a sweet guy and quite detail oriented in his narrations. He treats his car as a family member is totally fair if people can treat their dog or cat as a family member.
Girls in their younger age treat their dolls (a non living thing with no senses) as a family member explains Mr. Khokhars obsession towards his car fair enough.

Sir I really admire your love for your car. One should indeed take take of his belongings the way they deserve. After all, if you treat your car well, she will treat you well.
May Allah bless you and "laadli".

p.s. I like it when people give nick names to their cars. I gave nick names to some rides that were around me like Jaydee, JayJay, AltoLago, Mehru, Urran Khatola etc. And my friends used to call my ride "bhaabi".
The more I get to know people, the more I like my dog!

It is not really uncommon to see people having named their vehicles in different ways ..

Brother Madhouse12's car is "Jahaz"

One of my friends in Lahore has a 2.0D .... bechari ko 1-2 saal kay baad nahana naseeb hota hai ... my friend does not have any past experience of being a NASA Shuttle Pilot, but that car is driven in a way, which scares the hell out of that poor car ... normally people in Lahore drive from one place to another in 1+hour regardless of distance, but amazingly, this car can cover any length of distance within Lahore in less than 10 minutes. It is another matter that smoke starts coming out from every possible corner of the vehicle

I have named that lovely car "Baji"

After the PW Islamabad Motor Show, eleven of us went to Islamabad Club .. we sat down in the lawn for two straight hours, discussing vehicles. I felt at home among friends. They have cars like everyone else on this Forum ... but I felt a similarity of "obsession" in all of them.

It was the first time that I participated in an event like this. When I went there, I had no idea where to park my car. It came as a sweet realization that PW friends started asking me to park my car in one place or the other ... identity issue. Finally, the audio chapter friends dragged me in the middle of the circle .. and then "Laadli" stayed there, entertaining all the friends.

My busy office life had cut me off from friends, but as I realized, I have found new friends. Friends whom I did not know earlier ... but in just a short period of time, I feel I have a nice bond with them.

Default Obsession or Perfection

It has been 207 days when I joined PakWheels ... While Laadli has been with me for past 281 days. While I read the postings of PakWheeler friends about their car with lots of enthusiasm, I never posted any photo or discussed my car in any significant way.

There were some factors which led to creation of this thread. First, some friends in "XRS Coming Soon" thread asked me to post some photos. Then, Brother Madhouse12 started working on the audio system of my car, and it was only justified to show my profound respect, regard and recognition for his volunteer work. Thirdly, I felt bad after reading some of the posts, wherein I saw that people did not pay much attention to their cars.

Of course, I had my feelings for "Laadli" ... but that was kind of humour in that name. MashaAllah, some of the members here have spent tens of millions of rupees on their cars. I have not spent any insane amount of money on my car. It is just the personal attention and care that makes this car stand out in a crowd.

I am a very busy person in my professional life. I have every possible reason for ignoring the car and my family life. But somehow I manage to do everything with perfection. My bosses recognize my work, and it is an open secret in my office as to who is the most hardworking and efficient person. It is very rare to see a government officer reaching office even at 9 o'clock. I have the record of always being punctual. I have served for more than 20 years now, and Alhamdulillah, I am satisfied with my performance.

Brother 2C and couple of other friends have used the word "obsession" for my attitude towards this car. If you know me personally, you will find that this "obsession" is there in every aspect of my life ... "Obsession" is not really the right word to explain my attitude. It is my "quest for achieving perfection". Very early in my professional life, I had the opportunity to attend a long training in Japan. This nation has the honour of being the most disciplined nation in the world. I learnt something there ... I learnt what I could not learn during my past life as a "Lahori". I learnt the importance of time, and of achieving perfection in everything.

Do we know that Toyota manufacturing and assembly plants do not have quality control section at the end of the assemble line? No, they don't have. It is their philosophy "Do it right, the first time, every time" .. Just see the depth of this mini-statement.

When you use attention, care, and apply your full concentration on something, you achieve perfection.

@ Osaka Boy

During 1993-94, I spent a lot of time in Toyota Motomachi Plant in Toyoda-shi, close to Osaka.

I had the research assignment "comparison of General Motors' Mass Production System and Toyota's Lean Production System"

It would have been nice to meet you there .. but probably, 1993-94 was too far back in history

this obsession/passion/love/insanity/dedication towards little things in life is visible everywhere. some do it for studies, some for money, some for opposite sex companionship and some for other finer things in life. i wish i had half the dedication/time to work on my jahaz as khokhar sahab has for his ladli. i ignore the car and it starts to rattle in places, registering a protest, demanding attention of the owner. i take care of it, work on it and it purrs like a kitten and keep me comfortable on those long drives from work to home or out of city.

simple fact is, whether you believe in this theory or not, you have to admit that if you treat your car nicely, it will treat you back nicely. emotions or not.

I think the black colour looks the most majestic ... yet very hard to keep clean. Anyone with a black car, needs a "full time maalishia" to keep off the dust, especially in Pakistan where the arid environment produces lots and lots of dust
