    Aslamualaikum Bhai ...

It is really difficult for me to suggest anything considering the extreme cold environment that you live in. There is a recent thread on polish .. you might like to take a look, but again I think you should research and find out what is best for your car

    Aslamualaikum Rehman Bhai ...

I am very honoured that you visited the thread and left your comments...

No matter how high-tech it goes, but surely it is "baja" .. but I tend to disagree (if you allow me) with your verdict that high-end stuff does not go with our classical stuff.

You have seen the "tabla sarangi" stuff in the boot of my car, but trust me ... Laadli's music system is capable of handling all good quality music. Depending on my mood, I listen to all kinds of music. I like the old stuff ... those great singers had marvelous voices. I really wish, good recording equipment was available at that time. The ancient analogue equipment of that age, left out all the highs and lows, and what we experience right now in their recording is the mild mids.

Their music was stored on LPs and later on, on magnetic media. LPs have become extinct, and magnetic media have problems of retaining quality media.

Stepping aside, Lok Virsa under Ministry of Culture has over 20,000 hours of recording of folk singers. The recording team traveled all over Pakistan over several years to record that. It was a huge task. All that recording was stored on spools. With frequent loadshedding, the temperature and humidity fluctuations have resulted in almost total loss of that precious music archive. Now, all that stuff is being transferred to digital media ... It will not deteriorate further, but what is lost is lost ... we don't find the highs anywhere in that huge recording archive.

Actually the problem is .....that these high end BAJAS do no offer their services for the songs we listen .....i.e ...M.Rafi,Mukesh,Kishore,Mannaday,Haimant kumar,Tallat Mahmood,.....etc etc....
I traveled to cholistan in a friends car having some good baja and a big woofer in the boot ....but believe me......every thing was so quite playing my songs......

Bhai ... as I said earlier, the old recordings could not capture the whole frequency band that was available at the time of recording. Plus, the storage of music on magnetic media, resulted in loss of highs and lows .. Now the modern baja can play what is being played by the head unit ... it can improve the highs and lows, but considering the voices of those legends, unfortunately, the modern high-end bajas are unable to make any improvements.

Fault does not lie with the modern music systems, it is just that quality of old recording remains questionable.

I am looking forward to upcoming visit to Chitral ... and I am smiling at the idea of "aik aapka aik hamara" song selection enroute.

Actually this suggestion came earlier as well .. and it is so much easier than lots of cutting and modification required for installing IPad ...

According to the latest plan for the upgrade, IPad is out ... Planning to install something much more sophisticated than this in Laadli..

I know "more sophisticated" is going to raise a lot of questions ... but we will have to wait and see what is coming next

Went through the entire thread; by far the best and the most informative thread, particularly for corolla owners.
Have booked a gli and would try to follow the footsteps as much as possible (subject to availability of budget) but I am certain, I wont be able to match your degree of passion for your car.
    Regards.

I know it already. I was there after the car show when all were discussing about replacing your current HU. I was sitting next to you (if you remember )

Tahir Bhai .. thank you very much for your kind comments about the thread.

This thread is not really about a car ... It is about passion, commitment and care for something. If you allow me to say, it does not have anything to do with budget. Like just about everyone else here, I too, feel constrained by budgetary factors. But, as the saying goes, where there is a will, there is a way.

The objective behind this thread was to motivate PW friends into taking better care of their cars, and I must say, I have been successful.

Another factor, which borders on successful achievement, is that I have found many friends. My friends mean a lot to me. As you must have seen, friends share the ownership of "Laadli" and they favour me with suggestions and recommendations all the time. Of course, it is not possible to follow all recommendations due to various reasons, many-a-times budgetary constraints, but they are all reflective of their feelings.

My best wishes for your GLi .. and I hope we will see her here with a unique name.

    Aslamualaikum Bhai ...

... Let me assure you that I try to fulfill my charity responsibilities as best I can. As Muslims, we must take care of those around us who are less privileged.

Thank you very much for a very good suggestion. We should all try to do our best.

Brother, are you referring to the lights on the new Corolla 2011? ... If so, then I don't really want to do anything. Somehow, I find the lights not according to my taste, especially on the front.

However, if you are referring to some other type of lights, I will appreciate if you could post a photo ...

    Thank you

    Default Today's Update ...

Brother Madhouse and I had planned a full day for a major upgrade in the car ... however, as it turned out, it started raining early morning, and according to weather forecast, it will continue off and on till tuesday evening. Besides, the installer made a commitment for today, but vanished from the scene. We checked on phone and they guy was in Sargodha ...
