MS-8 comes with a small LCD display ... it is required during tuning of the system, and can then be removed and kept in safe custody. However, I decided to keep it installed. The space between the two temperature gauges was selected for this purpose

Contrary to Pioneer DSP, the installation and calibration/ tuning of MS-8 is difficult and more time consuming.

We have to specify the presence of the speakers and their numbers ... We start with Subwoofer, front speakers, center channel, side speakers and then rear speakers .. for each we have the options to selected None, 1, 2, 3 etc depending on the number of channels assigned to each.

Since we were going for a 7.1 set up, we assigned one channel to each speaker .. in case of subwoofer, one channel for both subs.

The microphone in MS-8 comes in the form of a binaural headset ... for each seating position, the person keeps looking ahead ... for two steps, and then has to first look towards the driver side mirror and then passenger side mirror.

MS-8 comes with a 30 minute CD which plays the sounds in the background for detection by the system ..

We missed out the acoustic calibration part i.e. all speakers emit sounds which the installer has to judge and set the amp gains accordingly.

We finally stopped at around 2 am ... the system was not running properly. Sound was coming in weak form from the rear speakers, and on turning the volume up, the center channel speaker was giving out weird sound.

I called MahaGuruji (DrShaggy) and sought his help and guidance ...

The solution was simple ... we had to do it again and follow the acoustic calibration part again ... He also gave me settings for each channel (totally different from the "recommended by MS-8 manual" ... I really wish MS-8 had come with a detailed set of instructions for installation and calibration ..

Anyways, MashaAllah, the system is up and running ... Amir and I spent couple of hours more yesterday and completed the installation

DrShaggy will InshaAllah fine tune the system when I visit Lahore .. He has promised to use his RTA equipment (you might have seen his Dangerous Curves thread a.k.a the tshirt thread )

While ordering, Emad Bhai specified his preference for serving food ... i.e. soup to come first (British custom), and then the dishes to come Chinese style i.e. being served as soon as they are prepared. Rice never comes in the beginning ..

Proper Chinese method does not require soup to come in the beginning, and perhaps anywhere .. soup is kind of optional item. It might come late on the table, or not at all ..

Chinese have their very deep rooted food philosophy.

Through some mysterious system, they have assigned genders to their food ... It is always a very interesting experience to sit with an old Chinese person on the table. He would talk incessantly about the characteristics of the particular food item and its possible effects on men and women respectively.

During this meal, we talked about various topics ... including cars. However, if you sit with an older Chinese person on the table, he would keep the discussion "moderated" to the "two most important topics in the world" i.e. Food and S.E.X ... they simply do not let you talk about anything else.

Project "Laadli" - My Toyota Corolla GLi 2010 - 466px Yin yangsvg

You must have heard about Yin and Yang ... The Yin/ Yang philosophy is fully at work in Chinese cooking ... everything must be balanced. If you add red chillies, then you must add the same quantity of sugar ... the Yin/ Yang thing is not followed in typical Pakistani Chinese Restaurants .. you just taste "aloo gosht with corn flour" in these restaurants. If you really like food, do visit one of the numerous authentic Chinese restaurants located in residential houses. The language might be a barrier in these restaurants.. Try to take a Chinese friend along .. or, Golden Dragon in F-7/3 has an authentic chinese menu in English language.

Tofu (Japanese spellings)/ or Doufu (Chinese spell it like this, however, both are pronounced the same way) is called Bean Curd in English.

It is made from Soya Beans, and has been gaining popularity in the west due to its health benefits ... perhaps, it is the most perfect protein source as it does not have any ill effects. In Chinese cuisine, there are more than a thousand recipes of tofu ... and it is kind of ironic that Pakistani people almost never try tofu dishes in restaurants.

The beauty of this item is that it is totally bland in taste, and because of that, you can add any taste or flavour to it. Do try it.

I really wish we could treat vegetables with this level of respect in our Pakistani cuisine ... we cook all vegetables beyond recognition, add enormous amount of fats to the veggies ...
