Sorry for entering late Khokhar bhai, I am loving your vehicle and her upgrades. TPMS is I think the best utility.

You have the aesthetic sence to fill all the gaps this car when bought has and now it can be presented as higher order benchmark for the enthusiasts.

Making him blind is real revengev

To check the deterent level offered by my car to thieves I made a duplicate copy of the key and tried in the lock cylinders around the car, the copy key turned in all locks and performed all the functions, but when I churned the ignition with the copy key the car refused to start and "Check Engine Light" started blinking, the starter motor kept on spining the crank but to no avail and ignition stay dead in the case. There may be a bypass system in the ECU but till that is revoked I stay satisfied, below is the duplicate key.

    Project &quotLaadli" - My Toyota Corolla GLi 2010 -230340

Later I touched the exposed part of duplicate key with the actual key, carnked and it started the ignition did not died once the contact with real key was removed but when I tried again it after turning of with duplicate key car never started

BTW the car in question is poor Liana

There is an embedded chip in the key..right?

Some days ago, a friend told me a "rather horrifying" story ... he lost his key with the embedded chip ... and then he had to spend Rs. 25,000 on getting a replacement key

Now about the level of protection of this key ... need comments from PW friends ...

Is it not possible for the thief to bypass the ignition switch and start the car?

Memad Bhai ... when I had just about made up my mind to get HIDs, I saw a detailed thread on PW about the negative side of HIDs.

I might get the HIDs for the fog lights, but no plans for installing HIDs in the headlights

    MashaAllah

Loosing the key is a costly fix, I have heared it, but some where I have read that it can be programmed using the door closing and trip meter reset switch, downloaded the method manual but never tried as it was too complex for me

The ignition can not be by passed as the circuit loop is completed only after the validation of the programmed key. lets see what others comment on this.

Going for prayers and dinner, catch you later

Khurram bhai, I have posted a detailed reply on that thread. You can see it and let me know regarding your thoughts.

As far as the switch for fog lights is concerned, I still have to look for it.

Interesting and disappinting experience .... window shopping is always very useful. Even if you don't buy anything at all, still it adds to your knowledge. As we discussed on phone, I don't the shopkeepers in HK .. they are very rude.

Today, I got the news that I will be going to Indonesia next month ... lets see if it gets confirmed.
Hahaha... Maybe because of the fact that you told me about their rudeness, I use to think twice before asking them about anything.

And Indonesia! That would be great. Laadli would be excited for the presents.

Like the kids in family, Laadli always gets something when I return from travel..

The issue with Indonesia is that I dont know anyone there .. perhaps I can find online friends from facebook or something ... that would be real help when I go there.

I love traveling and I have been abroad 32-33 times .. but the worst experience was in Hong Kong. Very rude people! I stayed for just 24 hours, and then made a promise to myself that I won't visit Hong Kong again, if possible!!!

I find so many things on the net ... but then feel disappointed because of the pitfalls in online purchasing ...

Surely, InshaAllah, I will be utilizing your generosity optimally .. Thank you so much

Yes I second that. That is why I prefer to have as many tiny security arrangements in the car just to give a challenge to the thief. I my old civic, a thief would have first open the main door of the car, then came challenge number two; the crook lock; then challenge number 3; steering's built in lock; challenge number 4; hot wiring the car but there was a "chor switch" which I got placed myself with the help of my oldest electrician. The location of the switch was a trend maker itself, other than that, I got it connected at a point from where a thief would have never thought of hot wiring the car. There was no current in the ignition, near the fuses, on the grips, on the relays as it had its own relay to power the ignition system from the battery. Alhamdulillah, it has been safe since ever.

Your layered security plan smells like it is inspired from Home Alone (Part 1) ..

The only thing you left out was .. perhaps ... sticking a big needle in the driver's seat .. tip facing upwards ...
