let me place one thing too.

what if I drive this same corolla with 5 passengers, and in 2nd gear at 80 km/hr - what would be my average then?

when asking a question that has variable answers, its mandatory that you put down the testing data first.

Thanks, Rizwan400 & sgo7 for sharing this information. I am planning to buy new Altis and looking for the difference between Altis AT & MT versions, like comfort, driving consumption and pro's and con's of sun roof.

    Default nice average

    Dear All

Its a nice fuel average. Ok, you guys are already using the car that is the new corolla 1.6. Now i want to buy two cars in near future, one is Honda City 2011 manual and the other car i havent decided. I need your advice so please help me out. I dont like Honda Civic, primarily it is not suitable for our bumpy roads and doesnt have adequate trunk capacity. I needf to know what is the maximum speed of Corolla 1.6 GLi automatic, altis manual anyone of you has achieved on the motorway. How is the overall built quality and other features. Looking at the price GLi 1.6 suits me, but i never liked automatic gears. In Altis Manual 6 speed, does it touch the same maximum speed which 1.8L altis was doing?

New shape of civic is coming in November 2011 with a price tag of 22 lakh, and this becomes too expensive for me. Corolla suits me due to its comfort on bumpy roads, Islamabad to Sargodha, sialkot, Taxila, Gadoon amazai and etc. Civic no doubt has better built quality, more better seats, more modern equipment but this is i am not requiring. I have driven corolla XLi 1300 from Islamabad to sargodha and then back from there after 30 minutes of stay, it was good.

Even as for work horse i like Toyota rather than city.

Gentlemen, those who have experience of corolla GLi 1600cc or altis 1600cc manual please advise me. u can call me on my mobile even 0315-3067897.

I have driven Nissan sunny 1999 model EX salon 1.4L. beleive me this 1.6L average is better than Nissan. Please tell me that due to dual VVTi is there any further noise reduction in the cabin of corolla GLi or altis. I hate noise in cabin which honda civic has. Is new corolla GLI/ ALTIS 1.6 is smooth in driving on high speeds that is 160km/hr, how are the brakes?
    Thankyou for your time.

Can anyone post pictures of new corolla GLi1.6 in detail with interior, exterior and Altis manual 1.6L. I am a bit afraid of fuel consumption of automatic. If anybody is using altis manual 1.6L, please tell us in detail about its fuel consumption.

    Altis 2011
    A/T with AC local=7-8km/L
    A/T w/o AC local=9km/L
    A/T with AC highways(2-3k RPM)=12-13 km/L
A/T without AC highways(2-3krpm)=14-15 km/L which is maximum it can deliver
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

    Default strange

It is quite strange, why is it so that cruisetronic which is automatic gives better fuel consumption as compared to manual altis.....anyhow thanks.

Being a mechanical engineer and experience of working as test driver in NISSAN (Yakashima Japan, Tokyo), i beleive all automatic cars have higher idle revs as compared to manual. Please re-consider again the data provided.

    Thankyou

M/T would always be more fuel efficient than a/t as torque converter always has losses over clutch type system... You're right... One way to reduce economy of M/T is to drive it with low gears and high rpms depending upon driving habits... At high revs & low gears, the fuel efficiency drops drastically!!!!

    Default Driving style

I agree, if we drive family sedans like drag cars, then we do loose lot more, on fuel plus engine life, CV joints and lot more, plus we prove to be show off. Anyway, i have been searching lot for a better car, but right now, Corolla 1.6Dual VVTi seems to be a better option. I tried to find out the spares for Belta, but they are not available, secondly city may be good on fuel in manual transmission, but i havent heard a good repute of this Honda. What mostly people said that it is has Thud on jumps, not like corolla which one can keep driving at high speed on rough roads.

I dont know, but Honda cars are not as strong as Toyota, although Honda seats are far far better than Corolla.

Can anyone post pictures of GLi automatic interior, or ALTIS manual 1.6 2011?

Default Wow what a brought up

Anyway, Honda civic 2012 will be 1.8L Inshallah. Toyota knew this will happen and because of the fact that in 1.8l capacity everybody seeks for civic and there was a big segment of 1.5 to 1.6 was vacant and toyota had the engine available (philipines model). So to market the altis more they had no choice but to introduce this segment, but its ok, we dont have roads where we can cruise above 180.

Default driving sp[eeds and fuel consumption

Dear Immado, zulfiqar. Always focus most on RPMs rather than speed. It is the REV that makes your fuel consumption high or low. So when you drive, lets say corolla, dont drag too much on 2nd gear, for instance taking it upwards to 80km. Secondly, our bad breaking habits, for example instant breaking also effects our fuel consumption. Well, let me give you a simple way, it may look odd, but thgis works, drive as if a driver of Army is driving for flag (Brigade commander, Major general etc etc), when you change the gear, nobody should even feel that the gear has been changed or brakes have been applied, simple rule. Always avoid "Rabbit starts". On 2nd gear you can take it up to 60, but dont stay there for long, shift to 3rd and so on. The more your car touches higher revs but higher gears, you will consume more fuel.

Make use of car momentum itself on highways, rather than depending upon too much on High revs.

    Regards

    Tashfeen
