@cooldesire: "if press the padal hard the brake will be applied with greater pressure" - I believe this condition you are reporting is a feature in all cars! The harder you push the accelerator, the faster it goes; the harder you press the brakes, the quicker it stops!
BTW, we had a GLI for 3 months and I found the brakes to be much better than any Suzuki (Margalla/Baleno/Mehran), Daewoo Racer, and Santro. In fact, on unpaved roads (tracks with rocks and dirt) the GLI was better than a '02 VTi because the ABS would actually increase the brake distance. I believe it is the shape/height of the car that causes decreased road traction, the brakes on their own aren't all that bad.
All this is before the car was hit @ 140km/h in Aabpara thanks to the genius driver and the insurance company gave a full refund and 'wrote down' the car!
