As horrible as they were previoulsy..4 wheel disc brakes on the Xli/Gli/2.0D. The Altis and the 2.0D Saloon come equipped with ABS and EBD. Havent driven the latter, but have heard that they are much better than their predecessors! Good luck,

i saw an ad in newspaper that 2.0D saloon is now with ABS,
nothing to outshine the car but whoever has associated the back light change with brakes is a very learned and logical person, must be some dealer trying to outsell his lot of XLi's.

@cooldesire: "if press the padal hard the brake will be applied with greater pressure" - I believe this condition you are reporting is a feature in all cars! The harder you push the accelerator, the faster it goes; the harder you press the brakes, the quicker it stops!

BTW, we had a GLI for 3 months and I found the brakes to be much better than any Suzuki (Margalla/Baleno/Mehran), Daewoo Racer, and Santro. In fact, on unpaved roads (tracks with rocks and dirt) the GLI was better than a '02 VTi because the ABS would actually increase the brake distance. I believe it is the shape/height of the car that causes decreased road traction, the brakes on their own aren't all that bad.

All this is before the car was hit @ 140km/h in Aabpara thanks to the genius driver and the insurance company gave a full refund and 'wrote down' the car!

I have a 2.0d saloon (with the new lights ). It has ABS and the only thing i'll say about its brakes is that they are very good.
However, the one's without ABS still have the same problem as the old one.

Ya the brakes have improved,I bought a new 2.0d saloon a while ago and its brakes are better than xli,2.0d etc,i think its cuz of the ABS in it.
