    Default THE COROLLA ATTITUDE.

well,,here is my observation while driving a corolla,,,the people tend to give way more easily and at junctions they tend to stop for a corolla to pass them,,,,this was not something which i felt while driving my cultus,,,,,,,,,,

no offense to any city users,,but i think honda city might be a better car aerodynmaically or comfort wise,,,BUT it does not posses the ""corolla attitude"" and ""status symbol""which corolla enjoys................

    any comments.????

r u guys talking abt rollas or pak assembled rollas, if pak assembled then u guys might be right but if u r talking abt corollas from different countries then u r not right. just cant say y r the brakes not good in pakistani corollas. here they work fine. and abt teenagers, they do have corollas fx-gts 86,88, 94+ in good modified form. Dont know abt datzburrier saying. and abt city. its no car to be compared with corolla. keep in mind. takecare everyone

Well, this topic has got extra ordinary reply/time ratio amazing.

I think If corolla brakes had good enough why they introduced ABS in newer versions ?

2ndly, if now we have ABS version of Corolla, we should admit that there' no deficiency in such model, ABS brakes ensures good braking ability, now u buy corolla or honda it's up to you.

2ndly Corolla is liked by ppl living in villages or their relatives living in city areas, while honda ppl seemd to be good in personality / citizen.

Corolla got it's good name, since 76,80,82,84,86,88 etc.
these cars are still being used by villegers in pakistan.
after geting 'foreign money' they' used to replace their old one with newer versions of corollas, i've seen many property guys, who have 2D cars (corolla 2.0D ) only coz they know it's the only car to have.

i've known a guy 'milkman' who asked me to buy 2.0D car coz he liked it.

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

    next please

    @fli_gti

yaar ap ne tu waqai baja dee hae honda ownres ki....
i think they have started to packup and leave this thread now.

and for others let me tell u that if a car is used as a Taxi. that doesnt at all effects the status of it rather that shows that the vehicle is rugged, long life, reeliable, less thirsty on fuel and digests all kinds of roads.

so a corolla being used as a Radio cab or a CAMRY being used as a cab in SA / dubai rectifies that these are the best possible options for a taxi / cab

even Land cruisers and prado,s and also some nissans are used in expeditions but no Honda can compete that try seing National Geographic, Discovery, Afghan war,

Honda ko tu aaj tek SUV ki definition ka hee pata naheen hae

they are no where sclose to the variants and various trim levels of a Toyota

    and just see for urself

1.6 Se saloon is giving more horsepower and torque than a Hondas thakar 1.6 SOHC vtaky but u r missing the main point here .............

Toyota is more fuel efficient than a Honda
giving 15 km / litre compared to a slow Honda at 11km/lire

Like i have mentioned before i ain't toyota basher indeed i love the indus rolla ( old shape ) why? because its rock solid stable car .....
This is NOT about Toyota but its about rolla the new shape

i personally think that the current shape of rolla is too darn big for the engine, i didnt liked the drive feels like ur driving a freakin truck ...

bhai kkoool 1.8 VVTi DOHC engine only pumps out 130 bhp in comparison to 1.6 VTi SOHC engine which pumps out 128 bhp gosh talk about the big difference :p

lets just say a buisnessmen would go to office in his rolla come back home get dressed up and go to a party in his civic

if i was offered a car for free and given the choice between civic and rolla ... i would pick civic anytime of the day ... any day of the year hands down ... why ? because the current civic owes current corolla in every aspect ...

Thread starter is comparing two cars in different markets. Corolla is a direct competitor of the Civic, of course the Corolla is the 'status symbol' compared to the Honda City.

    @cyl,baqai, etc:

Saying, that Horsepower difference between a Civic and Altis is just 2HP is easy when neglecting the torque effect. Which again is wrong because the HP difference is 6HP.

Here are some official paki figures..

    Civic
    128hp @ 6600 rpms
    146nm @ 5000 rpms

Now in this car you'll have to rev it past 4000 for a mere novelty in the scenary. Ideally how many of us rev our cars 24/7?

But one important factor that you guys always forget is torque and the rpms where the engines have it.

    Corolla 1.8 VVTi
    134hp @ 6000 rpms
    171nm of torque @ 4200 rpms

There were many technical flaws in the posts above.
Life for instance, unit misconversions. HP on toyota-indus is given in KW and people have converted & quoted it wrong.

My friend, check the torque and rpms where Corolla gives its max figures. Ideal for city driving though albeit by a margin as still I see the digit of 4...

Im sure, most of the B16s and so called staged-civics will run home if somehow Toyota introduces its 2ZZ-GE engine. High-revving masterpiece.

Moreover, no one brings the altis in the convo. until a serious civiee wana-be jumps up after driving his civoerrari and keeps on say corolla is ****, corolla is a *****, corolla sucks, while civic roXXXX (this ROXXXX is a typical civic wanna-be ricer's phrase).

    Its wrong.
More over 99% of the people here who talk **** about corolla actually dont even own a Civic. You really can't give solid standings for a car until you've driven it.

    tech_wiz,

I've driven the Altis, had it for a week, didn't like it, it doesnt feel powered. I own several Civics, and Honda Citys (and other cars). My opinion stands firm that Civic and City are better, if you dislike that, thats not my problem as its my opinion.

I've also owned several Corollas in the past, uptil the indus model they were fine, the new one is a p.o.s.

So please all of you with your luxury handle based XLIs, have fun ;-)

wooow,,i am amzed to see the response to my topic,,,,well thanks,,,

well ,u see i am one of those who like to preffer suzuki in pakistan rather than having a BMW in usa or UK and not getting any "respect",,,so if i get the kind of looks which i get in corolla and "respect "from people,,,combined with its power steering,,beautiful A.c,,cd plyer and amazing engine,,,i would love to be in this car...............

the brakes of this car also good,,,so that ends one of the myths about this vehicle

    @bilal
well,,i went ot toyota rawal motora,,they checked the ac and found nothin wrong with it,,actually i sit in another new xli, parked there and cheked that "cliking"sound also comes from that car,,so i was satisfied.

The whole Civic and Corolla Love should be looked with some serious thoughts.

First of all, BOTH THE CARS are very nice.

BUT.......In Pakistan, the assemblers for Both Honda and Toyota are charging TWICE, at their International market price. I have been saying this for so long, due to a reason, to make people realize that they are being overcharged. Look at other alternatives.

If you are willing to shell out 14 Lakh, and that much money is burning holes in your pocket or Bank accounts and you are desparate to spend it, then spend it on something that is worth that much amount in the International Market.

Both Corolla and Civic are being sold at around $12,000 to $14,000 or around 7.5 to 9 Pakh Pakistani Rs. And those cars come with 3 Year, 36,000 Bumper to bumbper warranty, along with ABS, Automatic Transmission, Powersteering, Powerwindows, Sunroof, CD player, etc. Two Airbags (Driver and Passenger), safety belts.

Hopefully, more assemblers are let in, and take control of Auto Industry. This current local Auto-Mafia of Toyota/Honda/Suzuki is really taking full advantage of this current situation, which they largely created and also customers have also contributed by keep on supporting them and giving them more reason to continue on their path of looting the customers.

Its like, sorry about this example, like a rape victims in U.S. Some people argue that rapes in U.S. occur so rampantly (Most amount of rapes in the world, occur in U.S.), due to Females own attitude and dressing in a way, to attract attention from criminals, with Short Skirts and tight shirts, and going alone thru Parks at night, where most rapes occur.

Samething can be said about Pakistani Consumers, they are getting Raped by the automakers, but the consumer are also to blame by making themselves So Attractive for the Automakers, by giving up all the money so quickly to these Criminals, or shall I say, Money Rapists. They are money Raping(Violating) the customer, by charging so much (double the international level), and the customers are equally to blame, by being so attractive, Moneywise, to the criminals(autoassemblers).

Sorry for this example, but this is exactly what is happening. The People are equally to blame.
Permanent positive change (in your life, or the society) with proper planning occurs slowly. While without planning any change becomes a disaster rather quickly. Said by Whocares...
