I have 2007 Corolla. It is on CNG. Now this is happening for the past few days now that when I start the car in the morning, it gives black smoke and I smell petrol. Basically what happens is my car starts on petrol and then automatically converts to CNG after 1-2 seconds. So when it starts on petrol I can see smoke during that 1 - 2 seconds and could also smell petrol.
But once car converts to CNG, the smoke is gone and so is the smell. I showed it to mechanic he said the car is approaching 100,000 KM (it is at 88,000KM) so will need injector cleaning. He said to buy a liquid injector cleaner (cost Rs.1800, original Toyota) and mix it in petrol after getting tank full.
I said just change engine oil, oil filter, air filter and do engine tuning but still after doing this the problem remains. Then I thought it could be due to very low fuel in tank because a few days back I saw an ad by Indus Motors in Dawn where they said that all Corollas with CNG must contain at least 15 litres of petrol in their tank to function properly. So I will it up with around 13 liters but problem remains.
So I want to ask what could be the reason and will injector cleaning do the job?
